Re: Lease Deal - Comments? [beardie]

Here is my latest deal as the 24 month lease by Volvo didn't make too much sense: 36 months and 12K miles for 2008 Volvo S80 with metallic paint, climate, park assist, and satellite prep: Cap Cost $33,261 Resid $19,524 Acquisition $595 Tax 8% Rate 4.5% Nothing down, all in monthly cost @ $555 / month. I cannot get their numbers to match any lease calculator online, but I see another dealer's deal that looks superior - http://www.mtkiscovolvo.com/lease/dsp_leasespecial.cfm?id=5 I am thinking that ~$520 seems more reasonable, but I cannot ferret out the place where the number was inflated. Thoughts?

I have a 2006 2.5t awd with vers, premium, Bluetooth and cargo cover. I took the private party prices from edmunds, nada and kbb and came up with an "in the middle" of the three. Im close to selling it and im selling bc I want to get out of owning a luxury gas guzzler, would rather lease for 2-3 years and see what happens with the hybrids and gas prices. Fearful that in 2 years when the warranty is expiring and if gas prices are high or more efficient suvs have arrived, resale will be worse. Id say if your ride is in great shape, low miles etc - you should be able to get private party or close to it. Dealers have not offered anywhere near trade in on those sites for mine.

I am also in Socal and in the same situation - 2006 2.5 with 17500 miles on it. I am considering trading in or selling on the side as I have a buyer looking sat. Only way I swap is if I get what i owe (car is worth more than I owe luckily do to invoice pricing on the car purchase) and my payments stay the same. The way I see it, I get a better deal on a new version and get the free dvd system - let me elaborate on that. I spoke to Costco and my local dealer and they both stated the Dual DVD system is FREE this month as a promo. Im not sure if the installation is free though. I was also told that on top of the 1000 and 500 from costco, the 3000 marketing support is being pushed by costco onto the dealer to honor the full amount to all costco customers. I also have 875 cash rebate on volvos from their safari game from this past spring/summer. So to me - walking away with a 2008 with the same packages i had plus a dvd system for the same cost per month is a no brainer. On my 2006, i only paid TTL which was 3k. This time around, I may be able to roll the cost into the payment and walk away with zero down. Id be interested to know what the lease payment would be on a 36K sales price - 24 months with 15k miles on 2008s.

Thank you, so the deal that you had posted earlier was based on a 41,200 price before the incentives? is this invoice for the car? IM hoping its possible to get the sale price in the 30's although all of the other factors can bring the payment up, ideally id like to be at/under 400/month. Any idea what kind of incentives are on the T5 model?

Hi i thought id like to help you guys out. Two months ago, i bought a brand new 2006 S40 t5 with premium package for 25,000 dollars. After everything, i also bought an extended warranty and ended up paying about 29.500 OTD with a extended warranty. The 25,000 dollar price was easily had, as i negotiated to that price after about three weeks of talking to different dealers. I was almost able to get an Audio packaged along with the Premium, but they could only do that with White. The color i got was metallic silver, and the MSRP was 31,655, so i successfully lowered it about 7,000. I live close in Orange County, and i bought it from Cerritos Power Volvo if you guys know where that is at.

Honestly I think the Nav for the Volvo (the pop up in the middle) is a little ghetto looking. I've read it's not touch screen, that you control it with some knobs near the steering wheel. For the $2k it costs you can get an aftermarket one for around $1200 less with a lot more features (a Megallan that sticks on your dash). While you have me on it the stereo head unit on the S60 does the job for CD's, but if you want to play MP3 CD's or plug in a non iPod MP3 player it won't support it. Alpine makes a good aftermarket stereo/nav system all in one for around $1k.
