Buying a car from a Volvo Car Dealer
carmax is a decent place for a good deal. But be wary of the condition of the car. I had mine shipped from Fl to Los angeles @ non-refundable $1000. I asked the normal questions regarding its condition to the dealer in Fl. They said all was fine. Got the car about 2wks later and whatyaknow. Paint is scratched, leather is stained, the car is filthy and one of the ball-joints is bad. The guy on LA is like what noise? as we drove over speed bumps in the parking lot. Mind you none of these were deal breakers, but the audacity of the sales man was to the point where I wanted to say FU and I'll see you in court for my $1000. But my wife wanted this V8 sport with the white seat and black edge. I would not buy from Carmax unless you have a good understanding of cars. Did by the extend warranty for 2k as volvo is pretty costly to repair even though its rated well by consumer reports. It was $1600 just for the ball-joint another $500 for the stuck Cd in changer(under warranty) cheers
Thank you for sharing your experience--I also decided to focus on bottom line numbers. After visiting 2 Volvo dealerships in my area (south FL) last weekend, I got my C70 with convenience package, metallic paint and BLIS a couple of days ago. I negotiated a price of $38,600 (MSRP $43,075), put down $2,000, they paid off $11K owed on my previous Volvo (trade in value $9,500) and applied my loyalty $1,000. My lease is 36 months, 15K miles at $479/mo with tax. Overall I'm very pleased with my deal given the negative equity on the old Volvo and my needing extra mileage allowance. The free factory scheduled maintenance is also a plus. I hope this info helpful to anyone shopping for a C70, because it seems everyone on the boards is shopping for the XC's!
I guess, not surprisingly, the numbers my local (good guys) Volvo dealer is quoting are different. On a 2012 Volvo S60 T5, 3 year, 10,000 mile per year, lease, the US Bank money factor is .001980, and the residual is a high 68%. Makes for a low lease cost, but a problematic buy out at the end of the lease. Loyality Cash was applied to the cap cost. Deal is $500 over invoice. How does this sound to you, Car Man?
Thanks Car Man!
Hope Car Man can come to the rescue once again. The base cost of this special is advertised a $299 per month on a 36 month, 10,000 mile per year, with $2,993 cash at signing, for an$30,975 MSRP car excluding destination. For each additional $1,000 financed the lease goes up $28 per month. Under Edmunds Incentives and Rebates, it shows as $339 per month, 10,000 miles per year, with $2,384 due at signing, for a $32,325 MSRP car. So, I have 3 questions. 1. Are both senerios above correct? 2. Can the $1,000 Loyalty Rebate be applied to the cap price? 3. What is the residual on a 36 month T5 with Premium Package and under 10,000 miles a year? As spec'd out on a custom order the car has an MSRP of $36,705 and an Invoice of $33,982. Thanks in advance for your help.
