A deal?

Can you tell me if this is a good deal: Location: Seattle, WA Model: SE 4motion, w/ moon roof Color: Blue Current offer from dealer: 26,500 + TTL The car has 3400 miles on it - it was a demo. I feel like 26500 is still to high. Anyone else think so too?

If you are specifically talking about the 2006+ Jetta TDi, bear in mind that the"DSG" automatic transmission is completely different from conventional automatic transmissions. It is more like a conventional manual transmission, but with two separate servo-contolled clutches. It does not have a torque converter. From my car mag reading, the DSG has an excellent reputation for driveability and efficient performance but I would imagine its durability and dependability are just beginning to be known. Jetta 6MT transmissions are ordinary stuff technology wise (which is not a bad thing). And if you really want to get confused, Jetta 2.5's do have conventional auto transmissions, and they (the transmissions) are made in Japan.

March Lease Deals

Hey Car_man, Can you tell me the cost factor and residual I am likely to get in the Seattle, WA area at this time for the following:VW GTI 4 door with auto, navigation, leather. I am interested in a 36 month lease with no down and 15,000 miles per year. Additionally, since this is my first foray into leasing would you explain how the payment is calculated in relationship to the cost factor. Finally, and I am not quite sure I've worded this correctly, are there any special lease cash incentives being offered by VW at this time. Thanks, Kam

by vdar on Sun Jun 10 23:59:26 PDT 2007
Hi everyone, Just wanted to share my deal with you as my way of saying thanks for all the people who previously posted info and made my research and negotiating so much easier! I signed my GTI lease in the Seattle area last Friday... Car Details: 2007 VW GTI, 4 door, DSG, Pkg 2, 18" Hufs, iPod adapter, mats MSRP $28,5xx Invoice: $26,998 (after regional costs added) Selling price: $27,100 + ttl 3 year, 10K miles/yr lease: $381/mo (including 9.2% sales tax) with $2K total out of pocket at signing ($1,2xx down, $235 for registration, license, title etc) Calculated with .00175 MF and 58% residual. Apologies for not having a more detailed breakdown of all the costs, but I don't have the paperwork with me at the moment. I am pretty happy with this deal because the 4 door pkg 2 cars appear to be hot property in the Seattle area and I had some difficulty even finding one to buy! Thanks again, and good luck to those of you still looking!
Bought my Eos today
by drkoob on Sat Apr 14 20:11:15 PDT 2007
I live in the Seattle area. Have wanted a convertible for 10 years and finally after a lifetime of family cars I have the coolest car I have ever owned. Buying experience was excellent and I was lucky beyond belief. Bought the car from a wonderful sales guy at Chaplin's Auto Group in Bellevue, WA. Have been researching my Eos purchase for quite a while. Had driven an Eos last week in Las Vegas. Loved it. Came home and decided we would go look today. One of the things I have not seen mentioned on these boards is the Costco buying plan. Today is the third car I have purchased using that program. If you are not familiar with it, you contact a qualified sales rep at a Costco qualified dealership online or by phone. As soon as I had filled out the web request, I was called by the sales rep. He asked me about three minutes of questions about what I was looking for. He then sent me an e-mail with his contact info and I replied that we would see him about 11:00 AM today. When you use Costco, the deal works that they have a list of the "Costco" price for every model. Depending on the model and its popularity the price on your car is listed on the list. For the Eos (with the current popularity---they had three) the Costco cost was $500 under MSRP. Once they give you the list, they can no longer play the bargaining game with you. You either take it or leave it. If they try to play the usual pass around to the sales manager with you, you can turn them in to Costco and they are off the program. Not something they want to be. We went in this morning and got there about an hour early. Our sales guy wasn't there yet (he was scheduled to come in around 11( so another salesman pulled up an Eos for us, filled it with gas, and told us to drive for an hour. We loved it. No salesman. No limits. We ran it up Snoqualamie Pass, through a bunch of curves, pushed it to 80+ on I-90 and had a great time. When we got back to the dealership, our guy was there and lo and behold he had the EXACT car I was looking for. I wanted a 2.0T with an automatic (but not the Triptonic), the Luxury package and I didn't want to spend for the high end bucks for the high end sound system as I plan to put in a secondary system. I was looking for the Island Gray with a black leather interior. And there it was. They had three on the lot and that exact car was sitting right next to the front door of the dealership. We did a quick test drive of that car, told him what my trade-in was (I have a 2001 Subaru Outback wagon that I am giving to my daughter and I am trading in my daughter's 1998 Subaru Outback wagon that used to be mine with 100,000 plus miles). I told him that if they couldn't offer me more than a grand, I would just donate the car to charity. He said they could give me three. My wife said, "$300?" and he said no, three thousand. We were shocked. Pre-trade in we got the car for $34000. Thrilled to death! Had planned to spend about $2000 more and thought I would have to wait weeks. Drove it home. And what do you know, as they pulled the car out after prepping it for us, the sun came out (yes--here in Seattle!) and I got to drive home with the top down. I am still in heaven.
