Re: Passat Lux rate I got [rjlaero]

I'm pretty sure NY is based on the total of payments, but paid upfront.. So, you have to roll that cost into the adusted CAP, which adds a dollar or two to the payment vs. taxing the payment each month... I think you are correct about VA, as well... You pay on the entire purchase price.. Of course, their tax rate is around 3%, so not as bad as it sounds.. regards, kyfdx

2008 GTI 2DR
by razorasdf on Fri Jan 11 08:50:40 PST 2008
On Wednesday I purchased a Tornado Red 2008 GTI 2-door with a 6 speed manual off the lot and 32 miles on the odometer. It came loaded with 18" Hufeisen alloy wheels w/all-seasons, sunroof, premium audio w/ Sirius, and an iPod adapter. No Monster mats or Gorilla gear, unfortunately - I made a mistake of letting them take it off to achieve my desired price. I might buy those from the dealer at the invoice price of $145 later on, though. I negotiated only on out the door prices. The dealer (Lindsay VW in Sterling, VA - great experience with Alfonso Monteverde) originally wanted $26,500 out the door. I managed to bring it down to $25,250 OTD. I financed it at 4.9% for 60 months via VW financing. The actual price of the car came out to be $23,482, which seemed to be a good deal. I live in Maryland so figure 6% in sales tax plus a few hundred in tags and title, one of which should be refunded since I turned in plates that weren't even a year old. The MSRP on the car was $25,504. I was still charged $349 for a "documentation fee" and a few other miscellaneous, unnecessary charges, but the dealer didn't want to budge on them and I already thought I was getting a good deal. Had I tried a tad harder, I probably could have gotten the car for $25,000 OTD like I originally wanted to, but an extra $250 seemed like a fair compromise (at the time). Too bad it was broken into and I had some stuff stolen out of it not even 8 hours after I drove it off the lot, but the repairs to bring it back to good as new will be done by this afternoon. Oh well, I still absolutely love the car and I guess that's all that matters. :)
08 Passat Lease question
by parvez on Sun Dec 30 19:39:21 PST 2007
Hello all and hope everyone's holidays are going well. If someone could help me figure this out - I'm trying to get into my first VW Passat lease. I went and test drove one and liked it: 08 Passat Komfort sedan 12k mile lease with $0 down Net Cap cost: $29251.48 MF: 0.00118 Residual of 51% Monthly payment of $423.60 Does this sound ok? I have a 3.2% tax for VA and the invoice price is $27,788 plus a $575 acquisition fees which this guy says he cannot take off. After that, I still am $988 and some change short of the net cap cost listed above....is it fair to assume that that's tax? or should I be asking him to take the acquisition fees and the $988 and change off? All in all, it looks like a decent deal to me - I just would like to know if there is any more 'wiggle' room to get the monthly payment lower? Thanks for any and all input in advance!

"Special Buy Back Sale"
by gli06er on Tue Apr 24 05:59:23 PDT 2007
Hey, thanks for the help vwguild1. I got another letter from the same dealership's sales department asking to buy back my leased 2006 GLI so that they can put it up for immediate resale. Now, in that scenario, where the dealership is asking to have the vehicle back, that shouldn't count as an early termination on my part, right? The offer consists of: payment of up to $1500 over NADA official used car guide listing; $1276 gift certificate for "special" internet shopping spree (I have NO idea what that means); 2.9% apr financing of replacement vehicle; and up to $3000 vw owner loyalty rebates (I think I'm only eligible for $2000). This is pretty much all I got in the letter from Greenbrier Volkswagen, besides of course requiring an inspection of the vehicle. I'll be in the area this weekend anyway, so I figured I should drop by and see what they have to say. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Thanks! :P
