Trouble with TDI?
by kc1435 on Tue Jul 17 08:52:38 PDT 2007
I recently purchased a new 2006 special edition TDI in Beaverton, OR. Within an hour of driving the car home, it started to have a strange "hammering" sound coming from under the car. Two days later, it started to produce a horrible smell (as though the clutch was burning) and started smoking. I had it towed to the dealer and after a week, they still haven't even looked at it. Has anyone else had a similar experience, or have any advice? Thanks

Post details in our Real-World Trade-In Values discussion to make sure Touaregs are really selling for that in your area. If so, it might be worth the hassle, but you sure don't want to get burned.

If you really think about it, the avg cost of super/premium unleaded is 20 cents per gallon more so it costs no more than $3 extra to fill the tank with the better gas. I'd rather pay the extra $12/month or $144/year to make sure the turbo injectors stay as clean as possible with the cleaner burning fuel, rather than shelling out possibly hundreds more to fix or replace the turbo.
2007 Jetta 2.5, Manual and Nav with CD Changer
by spicolij on Wed Feb 28 15:30:24 PST 2007
Extreme Audi, Saturday I pick up my new 2007 Jetta 2.5 Manual with package 2, Nav with CD Changer, and Sunroof for $23,900 (location Maryland). I think the price you were given is high since the dealer offered to find an auto for $1,000 more. A price of around $25,000 is what you should be looking for. On a different note, the dealer is telling me the 2.5 with Nav and CD Changer (which is located in the arm rest) won’t play MP3 CDs. This is very disappointing, as I listen to most of my music with CD’s I’ve burned. Does anyone know if this is correct and why? I know I can hook up an iPod or any MP3, but I’d like to be able to listen to MP3 CDs. Thanks!
My Turn to Burn

I finally have a chance to buy a new car. Current vehicle is a Honda CRV that will soon be my daughter’s first car. Now it’s time for Dad to play. What would you buy, or recommend buying, if you were in the <$30k market and had the following criteria. 4 door, automatic, decent mpg, reliable, comfortable/confident at 85+ mph, and FUN to drive!!! I’m considering the GTI (4dr), GLI, S40, TSX, WRX, EVO IX, Accord V6, and Legacy GT. Your advice, experience, or opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I guess that I went the whole 9.5 yards. I purchased a 3.6 w/ lux #2 and the nav system. I bought #2 more for the Dynaudio system... it is something else. The "better" headlights on the other hand have been a problem. First one of them burned out at 120 miles - no big deal, the dealer replaced the bulb. Now however, there is an accumulation of moisture inside of the headlight assembly that does not dissipate. I am currently fighting with the dealer and VWoA to replace the entire assembly. So far, no good... they claim that this is normal condensation - yeah right! My purchase price in PA was $34,615, which also included the trunk liner and heavy duty winter rubber floor mats. This was approx. 6 weeks ago. It is my first VW and I like the car a lot, just not thrilled that apparently one must fight tooth and nail for what appears to be a defective part replacement. Does VW have a dispute resolution process? :confuse:
