Deals that I got: Passat 24 mo (12k/yr) lease
by saipreet on Thu May 01 09:22:03 PDT 2008
Hello: Here are the details of the lease offers I received last night (end of the month) from dealerships in the Raleigh Durham area. I did not buy last night (though there was intense pressure!) and I'm wondering if i did the right thing this morning! 1. For a Turbo (base model) with heated front seats: I was offered $355 a month for 12k/yr lease for 24 months. Negotiated sale price: 23480 (including $940 tax, title, doc fees). Residual was at 59%. 2. For a Komfort model with heated front seats: I was offered $389/month for a 12k/yr lease for 24 months. Not sure of the sale price on this car because the dealer didn't give any. He merely suggested this as an upgrade. The one thing I noted was that he mentioned something about owner loyalty casually - i think he offered me the $389 figure only if I qualified for that. I dont! So I guess really the issue that's bothering me is: should I have walked away from the Turbo deal that is in #1. I wanted the united gray color but they didnt have that in stock in either trim and offered me other colors (another justification for why I didnt buy last night even if the deal was spectacular!). Your feedback is appreciated. Maybe I'll learn to jump on a good offer when i go to the dealer this month! ONE THING MORE: I live in NC now but am moving to Indiana in 2 months. I am debating between leasing the car in NC and driving it to IN or leasing it in IN. So far, every dealer I have spoken to has said that VW has a good dealer network and that I should have no troubles in buying in NC and relocating to IN. That's true, isn't it? :confuse:
new purchase

I just bought a two-door, manual with Alloys, $15,900 OTD (or about $15,100 for the car excluding TTL but including delivery). Thought it was a fair deal; the dealerships in Raleigh and Durham NC, though owned by the same company, compete fiercely against each other. Let's hope the reliability matches the assembly quality.
2007 2.0 Lease Information
by getwired on Sun Dec 03 10:48:53 PST 2006
Hi All, I see lots of lease information of the 2.5 and GLI, but not much on the 2.0. Does anyone know the current residuals and Money Factors for the 2007 2.0. I'm thinking 36 months, 15k, but numbers for 24 would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Getting the best deal!

Thought I would change the title, since we're no longer talking about an IPOD adapter (which I have yet to get). In general, at least in the this area, looking outside of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill can get you a better deal. The dealerships outside of the Triangle have to do something to compete with the dealerships in town. As the saleswoman told me, "We can't afford to lose customers." So, depending on where you live, I think it's always a good idea to look at all the dealerships within an hour or so, especially if they are in smaller towns. For those who are looking to purchase, I wonder what experience folks are having in terms of price and availability? Still only silver and black available?
Re: 2006 Jetta 2.0T in NC - buying experience & first impressions [martyt1]

As of last week they had a red 2.0t with pkg 1. I shopped several dealers. My particular model with no options was difficult to find. I knew exactly what I wanted so I dealt (or tried to deal) with Leith, SS Raleigh, SS Durham, Maxwell, and Goldsboro. The dealership in Goldsboro and Leith were shaky. They tried to provide some bogus information and they didn't act professional (didn't call back when they said, tried to push me to another car, etc.) . They were marked off the list quickly. SS Raleigh were nice but they seemed unwilling to do much legwork in locating my car. Maxwell was okay, again with the heavy sales approach, but they were responsive but could not match SS Durham. Which leads me to SS Durham. I dealt directly with the sales manager. He was low key and we did a bit of haggling before arriving on a price. Their service after the sale has been good and I feel comfortable with the deal. Also, check my earlier posting about carsdirect.com. They are definitely worth checking out even if for a price comparison. They were able to beat everyone but SS Durham on price and I could have been done in 30 minutes.

Hey Spiveygb, I live in the Raleigh/Durham area and was wondering if you could tell me how many 2.0T Jettas they had on the lot in Durham and with what packages. I was in there about a month ago and they offered me $800 over invoice, granted that this was their first offer and I was not in a hurry to buy. Invoice price is a great deal and might go back if I can get it. Did you go to Leith VW in Cary and check out their inventory? Their online inventory is down. Thanks a lot. Martyt
