Got the 09 wagon @ MSRP
by mariobgoode on Sat Mar 07 07:27:55 PST 2009
I ordered the wagon back in July 08, with the options I wanted: 6M TDI, extra-long moonroof, 17" wheels, laser blue metallic, nav. After 7 months, got tired because of the delay the dealer over and over said was due to the production of the nav. He said he found one with my specs except the nav, so I went along rather than wait until whenever. Never been happier, money wise. EPA says 30 city and 40 highway. Without any adjustments to my routine driving style (10 mph max over limit), highway mostly I get about 600 per tank, and approx. 450-475 city. Obviously, it doesn't run like a gas engine, and you have to make adjustments when you drive a diesel, but overall, I'm happy as a clam. This is a keeper for me. I hope you will all find happiness with yours. It doesn't make any difference to me, but it's made in Mexico. Good luck to prospective buyers.
2009 SE

Yes! It is possible. The whole issue for me was the 36 month vs. 39 month periods That extra 3 months flips you into a new year and really extends the lease term, probably at a time when you can't wait to get out of that 3 year old lease. Here's what I was given as a quote for a 36 month which was @20.00/month more than the 39 month version: 36 month 10k/mi year $395/month incl tax, NY Dealer with 4motion, Roof & Navighation & Rearshades & Monster Mats Kit $500 out the door, loyalty money applies Yes, no leather in the SE is Ridiculous. The color choices are also pretty bad, what were they smoking when the chose that Blue??? Loaed SEL version as above should hit around $430-440 momnth I am guessing?

Hi, I got an excellent lease deal in April when the Passat 2004 Wagon has just arrived the market. I leased the 2007 2.0T with Pack Lux 2 Auto 36 months, navigation system, 17" wheels, rubber mats pack for $429, with no money down and including all NY taxes and fees. I only paid first months and MVT fees which totaled $750. So far I am very happy and everybody are complementing how nice the car looks (it is Blue Graphite). I heard some realibility issues, but all i can say it is much more realible than my 2003 Saab Arc which I had to take to the dealership 7-9 times the first year I drove it
Better deal

Original Message- "I was just at a local VW dealer in NY yesterday, and was quoted $351/mo. for a 48 mo. lease on a 2006 2.0T Jetta w/ Package 2. This included $1000 on a trade in and $2800 down. Shortly after that, I called down to NC (where I'll be moving in a month or two), and was given the same quote for the same lease, but for a Package 3 w/ Navigation (also in the color i wanted!), reatailing around $31-32 g's. This is my first new car, and first time leasing. Is this a good deal for a lease, or should i try to haggle a bit more?? " I went back yesterday and did some haggling between the 2 dealers. I'm now down to $309/mo for 48mo/12000yr on the 2.0T automatic, Package 3 w/ an Ipod Adapter in Blue Graphite. THis does include 2800 down w/ a trade in on my car (which they're giving me $1000 for... and i'm extatic about that). I decided I really didnt need the extra Nav system. once again, this is my first time leasing, but does this sound like a good deal?
Re: used TDI prices? [roxster]

Roxster, I don't know what the used prices are like where you are, of course you should check the blue book and nada values online, but the price you're hoping to get is what I paid for a new wagon otherwise just about identical to yours, except it has 17" alloys. No CD changer, but the PhatBox is on order for $120. FOr sure, I doubt you'll get much if any value out of the new rims and tires. DOn't get me wrong, I think your car's worth it! But at least as long as the VW factory-dealer incentive of $2k is out there, it may be tough to get that much outside of the 'embargo' states of Cali, NY, MA, etc. I've bought and sold at least a dozen times on eBay (restore olf INternational Harvester vehicles as a hobby/obsession) and think it's great, but keep your eyes open. Best of luck with it!
testing the water

I was all set on getting the left over 2005 JEtta TDI. Went to the dealership by me, only to find out that TDI's are outlawed in NY state. The only way to get a TDI is to get a used one. They had one used baby blue JEtta TDI GLS on the used lot. I test drove it, and it was OK. Kind of slow, but lots of torque. I could just drop the clutch without gassing it, and the car went. We go back to the office, and I was told that this 2002 TDI with 48,000 will cost me $17,500. I laughed. Told them the brand new GLS/GLI 1.8T's on the new lot are $17,800, clearly marked. They asked me what I thought a good price would have been, I told them I did not want to insult them. And walked out. They lost a sale because of their ridiculous pricing. I can live without a TDI if I have to give an arm and a leg for used one. I went in prepapred to pay $18K for a new one. After checking into the used market TDI's, had they asked $12K for it, I would have bought it.
