New Tiguan Lease
by rubyj on Tue Aug 12 14:04:06 PDT 2008
I also posted this in the leasing section, but thought it might be helpful here too. I am going to pick up my Tiguan tonight. I got a 4-Motion SE, white with sand cloth interior. They are throwing in the bluetooth with it. I am paying $2000 out of pocket (incl. 1st mo., taxes, title, fees, etc.) and $372 per month for 12K miles/36 mos. I am told it is $500 under invoice. They had it in stock. Adding the nav, sunroof and leather was too expensive, so I'm going without. Hopefully on my next car. :)

Re: Prices going lower (like all cars now, not just VW) [kyfdx]

kyfdx, In my reading of the ad, it's even one step more misleading: Not only does the fine print mention a $2000 cash or trade and $500 customer loyalty bonus, it also mentions $1999 down payment. Given the discrepancy of a $1, and the language used, they can say that the $2000 cash/trade is different than the $1999 down. So: $13325 + $2000 + $500 + $1999 = $17,824 + TTL. And, as you said, this is probably for the base S model. I have a 2008 Jetta SE w/ mats in south florida (that I got in Dec. '07), and I'm currently paying $285 a month on the lease (for 15,000 miles and 39 months and not 12,000 miles and 48 mos. like the ad states), including all fees and TTL. So, in my view, this ad is not a good deal at all.

I live in Michigan and just picked up a wolfsburg 7/10/08 (Absolutely love it) I had to give the dealer 403.00 out of pocket needed 6 mos plate and for a 3/36 12000 per year my payment w/6% tax here is 319.00.I used to sell cars and know that you should never put much $$ down because in the case you happen to total the car out you just lost your $$ you put down. Here in Mi,they were advertising the Wolfs w/ 2000.00 out of pocket for 229.00 plus tax.
2008 Touareg Lease Take Over
by konstantinos on Sun Jun 29 12:16:15 PDT 2008
I am considering taking over a lease on a 2008 Touareg2 with V6 & Lux Plus Package, 3200 mi. MSRP $46,300, net cap cost around $40,000. 32 mos. left on 36 mo. lease, $527/ mo. including tax. 2 things holding me back: no Nav., and only 10,000 mi./ yr allowed, 0.25/ mi. for excess (which seems high). Seller offering $500 incentive. Also looking at V8 version, 4000 mi. for $570/ mo., 12,000 mi. allowed, but worse gas mileage. Seller offering 2 months payments free. Any suggestions on which one is a better deal? Thanks.
New 2008 Rabbit Purchase
by crazedcommuter on Sun Jun 29 08:24:35 PDT 2008
My son drove his new Rabbit home at 5:30 yesterday. I believe that we got a fair deal-although fair is a relative term in car sales. 2008 2 door black Rabbit with auto, floor mats, arm rest with IPOD jack, and a cargo tray. OTD price of $17977. No trade was involved and we took the 1.9% finanancing rate for 48 mos., and this is a good way for my son to build a credit history for himself. He gets the first oil change for free at 5k miles. That may be next year for him. I think he put 7k miles on his last car in 2 years. We tested the 2008 Honda Fit and the Toyota Yaris also but the VW just felt more solid--not like an economy car. The Honda dealer offered 17,600 OTD for the Fit Sport but the financing was 5.3% for 48 mos. The extra $377 that the VW cost is offset by the 1.9% finance rate. He disliked the Yaris the most as there was no acceration with 3 of us on the test drive and the a/c on high. It just didn't want to accerate up an on ramp. We were pleased with the ammenities of the Rabbit as well as the performance. It handles great, rides smooth, and accelerates strong. I hope the MPG is close to the advertised 21-29. I'm counting on this car to get my son through the next 3 years of college as a commuting student and hopefully carry him for many years after he graduates.
