2008 Passat "Lux"
by opositively on Fri Apr 11 17:35:03 PDT 2008
Hello all. I just wanted to share my experience with you all by using Edmunds website in researching for my 08 Passat. Today I just purchased a brand new (mocha brown exterior, latte machiato interior) 2008 Passat "Lux" with the additional options of the DVD Navigation (NV), rear side airbags (4X4) and Dynaduio (9VE) for $455 above dealer's invoice. After getting the additional $1500 rebate and trading in my 2001 Toyota 4x4 and got 10K for it, the final cost was $20554. Purchased in Daytona Beach, FL... MSRP: $33940 Dealer's Invoice: $31579 Edmund's True Market Value (TMV): $32088 Actual Purchase price w/Rebate included: $30554 Total Savings below MSRP:$3386. Yesterday, however, another VW dealer would've had me pay 680 over invoice, another 500 for transport fees to his lot, and 1K on rebate, and 10,500 on my truck. He was absolute in his price for the EXACT same vehicle color, options, etc... I confronted him about the rebate, letting him know that VW offered 1500 for rebates, and of course he played it off by saying he wasn't aware of it (sure he wasn't). I of course did not reveal to him that I already knew what MSRP was, what the Dealer invoice was, and more importantly what the TMV was. Bottom line, I would've paid almost $1500 more than I did had I not done my research using Edmunds.com. The point in all this is that, if it wasn't for edmund's I wouldn't have known whether or not I was making a good deal for ME or for the Dealer. Today, it was a win-win situation for both the dealer I worked with in Daytona Beach (vs. Jacksonville) and me getting a fair deal all the way around. So I just wanted to say THANKS to Edmunds, and to everyone else who shares their good and bad experiences on here, for making me a much more informed consumer....God Bless the USA!!!

Re: VW Eos in Texas( Austin, Houston, Dallas) [vw_rider]
by cat_lover on Fri Feb 16 10:46:15 PST 2007
Greetings from Louisville, Kentucky: I just bought an Eos on Wednesday (Happy Valentine's Day to ME!!!!!) with automatic trans, $550 sound system upgrade and $199 IPOD for $30,680 plus tax, license etc. I did buy one that they had on the lot, rather than get one in a different color that was not in-stock. I really didn't want/need the IPOD, but thought the deal seemed like a good one. Who knows, maybe I can add an IPOD to my holiday list... I'd love to know what others think about the price I got. Be honest, if I didn't do so great on price, I still love the car (after two whole days).

you don't have to actually go there. Just write an e-mail to that dealer and so on. In Canada a 5-door Rabbit with: convenience pack, alloy pack, ESP, rear side airbags, floor mats & freight it`s sold for 23.830 MSRP (that`s from a dealer) EFF. INTEREST RATE: 5.92% 48MONTHS/80K --> $0 DOWN - $306+TAXES ($350 WITH TAXES) --> $2000 DOWN - $259+TAXES ($296 WITH TAXES) ON ME: $1000 DOWN WILL TAKE YOU TO $330 WITH ALL TAXES, PROBABLY. AND RESIDUAL IS 57%
2006 jetta 2.5 lease
by fillmore2 on Sat Aug 12 12:49:38 PDT 2006
Car_Man (or anyone else), please analyze this trade: terms: 48mo/12k lease of 2006 2.5 jetta package 1 trade in: 02 grand prix gt (kbb $7500, payoff $9500 = neg equity $2000) zero $ down. i know there are a lot of variables here, but what is "fair" or a good deal for ME. the salesman has already apparently lied about the $750 lease cash, assuming it is currently valid, so i dont trust the invoice numbers they were showing me either. can you break this down? just an outright buy with ignoring the trade in would be helpful at this point. thanks. also, how does one prove the existence of lease cash if the dealership doesnt acknowledge it?
