wolfy lease terms
by jettasquire on Wed Jun 17 10:23:28 PDT 2009
leased an 09 wolfsburg a couple weeks ago. not many of these left, i guess they only make 12k per year, and hard to locate. anyhow, here are my terms 36 month lease 12k miles/yr $0 $595 due at signing (1st months pmt plus license fee) 6MT, monstor mats/cargo liner $287/mth (includes tax). IMO this was a very good deal. lease pmts was based on $20,799 base cap cost; MSRP was $22,xxx. Residual value at term end is $12,234 I think anyone looking at an SE or SEL should be able to arrive at a similar price, based on similar MSRP Most folks who get fleeced wtih a payment in the mid to low 300's a month is due to their shopping for similar "sport" compacts, which are usually leasing in the mid 300's, so the uninformed feels that the wolfsburg lease rate in the low/mid 300's is in the "ballpark". Also looked at a 2009 civic SI, which i got down to the same price (~$275/mth nothing down). I am quite impressed with the car - feels very solid, the 2.0T is a GREAT motor. My leasing philosophy in the past, which has always treated me well, is to ID the amount you want to pay each month (nothing down), and find the most car for that price range. There is really nothing out there that provides, IMO, a comparable deal given the motor in the jetta wolfsburg, with v-tex (not too bad a surface), heated seats, sunroof, decent stereo. I was also considering a suby legacy SE, mazda 3/6; nothing matched the driving dynamics of the VW per dollar. Mind you i am coming out of a 4 year lease on a saab 9-3 2.0T manual. This car was a blast to drive, but actually i think the VW has a more sporty feel. Sure, the VW has a few less creature comforts that were nice (auto off lights, auto AC, etc), but for $113 less a month, i'm pretty happy! good luck

Jetta Wolfsburg
by storrnyc on Wed Apr 04 12:26:16 PDT 2007
Hey Car_Man She test drove the Wolfsburg Jetta and i think this is the one she will plump for(Rabbit has not got good enough deals and gti is too expensive). After briefly speaking with a dealership which she wont actually buy from i talked around this deal. What do you think? 15K/36Mo Sale Price - 21125(incl $640 Acq fee) MSRP - 20535 Money Factor - 0.00095 (is this correct?) Residual - 56% (is this correct?) From this i calculate the pre tax payment to be $297 a month. Would i correctly be in the ballpark? Id like this to be the price WITH sales tax(St Louis 6.05%)....i guess ill have to try and negotiate 10% off msrp to get that sort of payment, if my math is correct. With Drivers Option how is the current cost to buy the car calculated? Is it MSRP less payments or the negotiated sale price less payments. This bit confuses me as im sure at the end of the lease the buy out $ of the car will be the residual value. correct? I only ask as i may need to be in the position to buy the car and sell it privately during the lease period. Do any other manufacturers have this as an option?

Personally id jump at that. We visited about 6/7 dealships in the NY area and best price i could negotiate was 20.4K. Go get the deal and split the diff with me. :)
Re: invoice vs MSRP [shana2]

I'm not sure about the diesel jetta market, since they won't be back on the market for another year or so, and with gas prices going up, but on a regular jetta you should be easily able to get it at invoice if not below. Also the diesel jetta's are already a year old, so I would try a couple of other dealers. Maybe www.carsdirect.com to find a good starting point on the diesel. Bottom line, if it's not the diesel (which has special market forces), then invoice or better should be your target. I might look http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=142 They have a message forum for asking a VW salesmen. They can locate dealers in your area which have the exact car you want, and maybe suggest a good dealer.
List of Documented Eos Problems
by austin_eos on Fri Dec 01 12:48:19 PST 2006
I am soon going to pick up my Eos from the dealer. After reviewing these forums and those at forums.vwvortex.com, I have made a list of problems that other people have reported about their new Eos’s (with links to reports about them). I wanted to bring this list with me to the dealer to make sure the car I was picking up did not have any of them. If you have anything to add to the list (including whatever solutions/results you had dealing with these problems), please let me know as soon as possible. Hopefully, this list will be helpful to others as well. I am hoping that these problems are relatively rare, and not representative of Eos’ build quality. 1) Leak at the “A pillar” on the driver-side door: A number of people have reported that dealer service departments have not been able to fix leaks at this location. This leak appears to be a problem whenever it rains, and even when the Eos is washed by hand. The main documented solution appears to be dealerships putting new seals in. eoslover, "Volkswagen Eos New Owners' Reports" #33, 10 Nov 2006 4:47 pm http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2797280 2) Other leaks at passenger side or back windows: There are some reports of other minor leaks at other locations, but people do not appear to complain as vigorously as they do about the “A pillar” leak. 3) Door Closing Improperly/Window Roll-Down Problem/”Pinch Protection”: There are several posts that discuss different problems with the seals interacting with the door or windows. For example, this post documents problems with the passenger door closing with the window outside the seals rather than tucking up inside. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2838958 Some people have reported that when the passenger window tries to close outside the door's seals, the “pinch protection” feature causes the window to roll-down automatically on its own (in a seemingly random fashion). This could be caused by a misalignment of the doors. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2832513 4) Maintaining seals with weatherstrip lubricant: Several different posts suggest that you have to be very careful to maintain the seals on the roof, or else you start hearing loud cracking sound from the seals, particularly around the sunroof. Be sure to get some sort of weatherstrip lubricant from the dealer or elsewhere. The posts discussed above suggest that the car’s seals are the source of many of the reported Eos problems. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2819603 http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2865214 5) “NO SAT RADIO” Error Message There is a “known problem” that the radio will sometimes say that there is no satellite radio service available even in wide open spaces. All that is needed to fix this appears to be a software update. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2889117 Any others? Hope this helps other people!
