Re: Getting the best deal! [rgarner]

I live in Atlanta, GA and have ordered a 2007 2dr base Rabbit (with floor mats). I am paying $18,157.08 all inclusive (7% tax here). There is a dealer service charge of $399.99 included, which I am told is charged, in some form, at all dealers. I am paying $133 less than what Edmunds.com says others in my area are paying for a 2006, so I feel good about the price. The dealer told me that the pricing remained the same for 2007. The closest 2006 base black was in north Florida, so I decided to just get the 2007 instead. I am looking forward to receiving my new Rabbit in mid-August! :)

2006 Passat 3.6L New Vehicle, but with Milage
by atljazz on Fri Mar 31 14:13:29 PST 2006
I am currently looking to replace my leased 2003 Passat with a new 3.6L. A dealer has a car similar to what I want, but.... it has 5400 miles on the odometer. One of the sales managers has been driving this car for 3 months. My question: How do I determine, negotiating wise, what the 5400 miles is worth - to me? I'm having a difficult time deciding what a good deal should be. Thank you.

Hi all, I have a 02 Passat GLS w/ 2 months left on the lease, its got a some damage to it, had a couple minor accidents, (probably around 2k worth of damage) and was looking at leasing the new 2.0GTI MkV w/ package #1, manual trans. Went to 1 dealership in the Atlanta area, and was offered $499 w/ no money down for 36 month lease, which seemeed alramingly high. Just got an internet quote from another dealer who offered 360/36 months, and 326/48 months, no money down. (Both are 12k milesper year) I assume the 1st guy was just trying to rob me, but wanted to know if anyone knew if the 309/month offer on Edmunds is still being offered since both offers were above the one listed on the site. I know turning my car in w/ the damage is going to bump my pmt up, but both of those quotes are w/out looking at my curent car
VW owner loyalty
by jettadriver on Mon May 03 08:03:16 PDT 2004
The VW owner loyalty credit last month really made the decision for me. Got an '04 Jetta for $14,8 including all fees (before sales tax). VW Jettas must be selling a bit slower than Corollas or Civics b/c they had some hefty rebates going on both to the customer and to the dealer. My biggest irk are the documentation fees (sometimes called dealer service charge). These show up as a way to pad the dealer profit, so make sure that you are negotiating based on your total drive-away costs so that you don't get surprised by the fees. My VW dealership is great and the salespeople were very low pressure and worked out a good deal. Once I get a few weeks of driving in, I'll post my review. This is a good 2nd car, but it's a bit small to be the primary family car - for that I'd move up to the Passat (sedan or wagon.)

I actually live in metro Atlanta. I have experience with 3 dealers in the ATL. I bought my Jetta from Jim Ellis VW on Cobb Parkway. I, personally, would steer clear of them. I also have gone to Jim Ellis on Peachtree Industrial Blvd. I just had an oil change done there and they seem to be fine. The dealer I would recommend would be Gossett VW. They are located up 400 off of Mansell Rd. I believe they are fairly new and they seem really competent. They are actually building an adjoining Bentley or Rolls Royce dealer next to the VW dealer. It was odd.....you look near their service department and you will see a $20,000 Jetta next to a $200,000 Rolls. Anyway...those are my thoughts...good luck
