Re: Asking over MSRP - What's the MSRP?

You saw 2010 SportWagens on the lot? Did you happen to jot down the MSRP? I've yet to hear pricing for a 2010 JSW yet and I'm hoping the increase is no more than the sedan's was (around $360). I have on on order at MSRP (Orange Co., CA) so some dealers aren't being greedy. I guess we'll see how long that "market adjustment" lasts once the pipeline is refilled from Cash for Clunkers.

I would call VW Finance and ask to speak with a supervisor .. generally, the front line folks who work the phones don't have a lot of authority and, in many cases, work from a prepared script. Eventually, you should be able to talk with someone who can make a decision .. let them know you are considering turning the car in and getting a different brand. It' not likely that they want to see you walk. Our NB ("Beauty") had a few small issues as well that required visits to the dealer, but we had purchased an extended warranty so didn't cost much out of pocket. Good luck and let us know how everything turned out.

Michaell, Thank you for your response. Same dealer in question. I had already talked with VW and they sent me to the dealer! VW is a pain - - - to deal with whether it be dealer or corp. It has been my experience that neither care about resolve. Perhaps that should be my Q to exit stage left? I do love my car though... SO FAR no huge issues.

I don't know if CO laws or VW policies have changed, but when we got to the end of our lease of our '99 NB in Colorado, VW Finance made an attractive offer for financing the residual. Low APR, and, if I remember correctly, a small decrease in the residual value. You should talk with VW Finance directly, not your dealer, regarding your options. (BTW, my local VW dealer was McDonald Auto Group in Englewood)
VW- NOT being licensed in CO?
by itslisa on Sun Aug 23 10:09:09 PDT 2009
I met yesterday with the -lease end- guy at the dealer my VW Bug convert. came from. The guy says he can't do anything about the residual bcse VW owns the car and VW is not licensed in the state of CO. (He claims that CO. is one of 3 states that is the case.) My red flag alert and b.s. meter went up. Q- Is this true and what does VW not being licensed mean (to any one who buys or leases a car in one of these three states?) MY objective, like everyone is to pay a fair buyout. This guy is telling me they are powerless to do anything.....I rather doubt that. Am I up a creek w/o a paddle? Thank you in advance
Re: TDI for non-environmentalist [oregonboy]

Works out real well as we take our driving vacations in the summer. The point being even when the price is lopsided in favor of RUG, the Jetta TDI is less expensive to drive than the gas version. People that own the new Jetta TDI and they are selling well are getting way over EPA estimates. The average TDI owner is getting over 40 MPG the average Jetta gasser is getting 25 MPG. That means when RUG is $3 per gallon diesel would have to be $4.14 per gallon to be equal. No time has diesel been that much more than RUG. Now they are reaping real benefits. Add to that a lot less CO2 being put out. Far less CO and dozens of other bad things in gasoline. I see the VW TDI as a complete winner for the environment.
