Because elsewhere the Golf is still wrapping up its 2006 model year. There will be a 2007 Rabbit coming in a few months.
Re: Is this good pricing on a 2005 V6 Base? [panzer]

Thanks, Panzer and Forum posters! You are invaluable. We decided that we "couldn't live without" Package #2 (leather, power & memory seats, etc). Good tip again, Panzer. So I asked the dealers in my area to sell one at the great advertised Base price ($30,488) plus invoice on Package #2 ($2,155) for a total of $32,644 + TTL. Two would do it. I chose my favorite color combo and dealer with whom I had spent the most phone time. Many dealers wouldn't match this pricing. Many doubted the validity of the offer. I was prepared to walk away if the deal and car were not as advertised. They were. It was a very positive buying experience. And a great car! :D Some current info I learned: -I believe the holdback is right around $1160. I understand that this means if a dealer sells a car at their invoice, they'd still make $1160 from VW for selling the unit. -And, of course, if this unit helps them meet a monthly sales target, even if it is an unprofitable deal, the dealership can make a few hundred dollars X number of units sold that month as a bonus. -Credit unions are my new best friend. Most people can probably find one to join just based on where you live/work/school/worship. You don't have to be a member of any "special" group, like a certain profession or alumni association etc. Rates can beat banks and VW Credit by at least 1.5-2%.
Is this good pricing on a 2005 V6 Base?
by abruin on Sun Jun 19 23:40:00 PDT 2005
Base V6 $30,488 +TTL Based on my research (thanks Forum posters!) this is a good price, but I wonder if anyone out there thinks I can do better. If so, by how much and why? What freebies could I ask for (little accessories? service?)? Anyone think prices will come down or more incentives be added through the summer? Of course, I risk base models selling out. Thanks!

Sorry to say it but it does not sound like a good deal to me. I just got quoted 22600 for the exact same one (everything at invoice price including options + $2000 June Passat rebate) If I were you, I would go back to them and haggle some more. Check what the full edmunds reports for your area. Should be less. Good luck.
GLS versus GLX
by frank on Tue Jun 22 22:58:03 PDT 2004
I am hesitating between the two. Argument for the GLX is the v6 because I may haul lot of stuff when going on camping trips and don't want a sluggish car. However if I add all the options I care about (leather Pkg + ESP) , the GLX is still 4000 more. $4000 just for a V6 upgrade that brings only 20 additional horse power sounds a little steep to me. Any opinions? Also, I heard that the 2005 engines are bigger (200hp and above). Will they be available in the wagon version in September 2004? Thx
Are 2005 Wagon around the corner?
by frank on Mon Jun 21 21:29:33 PDT 2004
I just got quoted everything at invoice (GLS+leather pkg for 21400 after 2000 manuf rebate + 1000 onwer) at a San Francisco dealer. Sounds like the deal is too good to be true. Are they giving them away because of bigger discount for 4th july weekend or because 2005 wagon will be available soon? Will appreciate your views..
