Duncans Hokie Honda
Very Poor Customer Experience with Hokie Honda.
I had been in the market for a new car and after doing the research on the web to find out what I should be paying, I started the process. I lined up my financing, got everything ready, and started to look for the car I wanted. I was able to come into agreement with three different dealerships, but two could not get the color car I wanted and the other had the car, but had already sold it after I thought we were good to go. So, I turned to Hokie Honda since they had one of the colors I was okay with.. WHAT A MISTAKE!
I spoke to "Andy" and let him know the price I had been quoted at the other three dealerships. I let him know that I had the financing lined up and it was a "done deal" if he could match the price of the other three dealers. (My price, by the way, was not super lowball or out of line. It was a fair deal, but hit right at the correct TMV in the area, and was good enough for the three other dealers.)
Andy was very dismissive of what I had to say, and his only response to my questions was "I'll email you a quote shortly." Well, that he did. It was $800 higher than the other quotes I had received from my local dealers. Well, obviously I was not pleased with quote, but figured he was doing the salesman thing and trying to squeeze out a bit more money. I called him back and tried to begin some haggling in earnest, but he would not budge off that price. I asked him why on earth I would pay him $800 more for the same vehicle I had received three quotes on. Was I missing something? What was I getting for the extra $800. He said (and I quote) "You are getting the opportunity to buy the car." He later on said that it coverd floor mats (OEM, $38), a cargo mat (OEM $69.00), and some pinstriping (probably all of $10). He also let me know that he was commission sales. I guess he mentioned that so I would feel good that I was supporting him instead of my own family?!
I found him arrogant and borderline rude in how dismissive he was. He acted like he was doing me a favor by even entertaining my desire to buy his car. I especially am galled by his repeating the line "I am giving you the opportunity to buy this car." Well Andy, and Hokie Honda., I hope you will take this feedback seriously and not continue to gouge customers. You may have the cars, but I have the money. And one thing I have learned over the years is that there is ALWAYS someone willing to take your money.
Please don't take the review as vindictive or sour grapes on pricing. I can deal with someone just outright saying they cannot match the price. What I will not put up with is trying to give someone almost $30K and having them act like I am doing them a favor. Everyone who reads this, do yourself a favor and find another dealership that will treat you better.
And one last thing. Andy, and Hokie Honda...Don't think that this as someone providing you bad feedback. Think of this as my giving you an "OPPORTUNITY " to improve.
