Re: Prius package #2 with trade in [millsy]
by temsley on Sun Mar 23 13:35:25 PDT 2008
I just noticed that there were a couple of inquiries to my posting of 2/29/08 (#1282). Sorry to have not noticed this earlier. I purchased my Prius #2 at Fox Toyota in East Providence, RI. They were good to work with. There was a bit of a mix up with the paperwork but the salesman was good. Hope this helps.
Prius package #2 with trade in
by temsley on Fri Feb 29 02:18:27 PST 2008
I bought a 2008 Prius with Package #2 and some accssories (floor mats, lug bolts, cargo net, rear bumper protector) for $20,500 plus my trade-in and plus tax on the Saturday of President’s Day weekend in RI. It was hard to come up with a value for my trade in. The Edmonds site and Kelly blue book were fairly far off from each other. It was a 1999 Acura 3.2TL with 178K miles and needing some work (left signal broken, scrapes in bumper, check engine light is on, worn leather.) I judged that the car would be rated “average” for Edmonds for a trade in value of $1,802. On Kelly Blue book website it was categorized as Fair for $2,795. This averages to be $2,300 as a trade in value. Taking into account the additional $235 for accessories and a trade in value of $2,300, I paid $475 less than TMV and $1,145 less than MSRP and $700 more than Invoice price.

Does Toyota offer a "Safe Lease" program that allows you to pay a one time fee of $395 up front (insurance?) and it allows you to have $5000 in damages at the end of the lease term? I heard about this and would like to confirm. It's my understanding the $5000 in damages covered can be wear and tear or overage on the agreed miles. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Highlander Limited

Hi All, New Here! We went to the Boch Toyota in Norwood Mass dealership and are very interested in buying the Toyota Limited 2008 Mind you this would be our third Toyota purchase from the Boch dealership. We have always been treated well but this time it was horrible.... They would not move from the MSRP price of $38, 895 Our other two Toyota's which we did get a great price from Boch I also did my home work and had it with me and did try to make a deal. I really think I need to start looking at other dealerships. I was also told that the Toyota Limited is high on demand and they were in competition with Honda Pilot, that is why they would not budge from the MSRP price. I also think it is kind of strange since Boch owns that dealership also. As well as more dealerships along the stretch of road. We live in RI so are open to.... Any suggestions..... ty5240
Re: Leasing vs. Toyota Touch Preferred Option [talmy1]
by vehicula on Fri Nov 16 10:25:06 PST 2007
Whomever I spoke with at TFS was wrong. From the Toyota brochure: "At the end of your contract’s original term, you can elect to satisfy your final payment in one of three ways... 3. Return your vehicle to your Toyota dealer. Notify TFS in writing at least 30 days prior to your final payment due date." Called TFS back and said (politely) WTF? No one could explain the practical difference between the Preferred Option and a lease. So I'm no better off than before. But I did get this information: The Preferred Option is only offered in a limited number of states: AK, LA, NM, NJ, NY, RI, MD, CT and possibly one or two others that I can't remember offhand. I'll probably never get my answer but the question is moot, since I live in MA. I'm guessing that it has something to do with variations in state law. I'm not going to argue with you, talmy. If it was available in MA, the Preferred Option would have been less expensive than a standard lease, although not by much.
