Rav4 purchasing advice and information
by kriebebw on Wed Jul 16 07:42:00 PDT 2008
I recently have started to read messages on this forum as I prepare to purchase a Rav4 V6 4WD Limited in the eastern PA area. It seems from the postings that I have read thus far that a reasonable amount of dealers will negotiate to dealer invoice price but only a small portion seem to move below that amount. In an economy that seems to receive bad news day after day my thoughts are that the future buyer might have more leverage to negotiate below invoice in order for the dealers to move cars off of the lot. Anyway, I have seen that many of you have used the internet to solicit quotes from dealers in their area. Has this been useful for obtaining good quotes or has it been just a starting point for dealers to begin 'reeling you in'? What has been your approach when soliciting a quote. For example, did you ask them to give you their best deal? Are you willing to sell at dealer invoice? This latter question seems to close the door for further negotiating any lower if the dealer comes back willing to sell the vehicle at invoice. Looking for help with some of the acronyms used in this forum such as TTL and TDA. I assume TTL is tax, title & license. Not sure of the TDA abbreviation. Also, anyone have feedback on ride comparison for the Limited vs. Sport. A work colleague felt that the Sport ride was stiffer than the Limited. I have test driven a Limited and a Mitsubishi Outlander on the same day on a bumpy road and the Outlander was a noticeably stiffer ride. I noticed one comment from a dealer asking a customer as to what constitutes a 'fair profit' Any thoughts on this? I think the approx $700 that the dealer receives back from the maunfacturer is sufficent. This 3% profit seems to be lower than the Consumer Report recommended 4 to 8% 'fair deal' amount. This fair deal amount is also above dealer invoice and many of you have 'struck deals' at dealer invoice or less. All feedback is appreciated. Thnx.
'08 Access Cab 4x4 V6 Auto Base
by heywood1 on Tue Jul 15 18:40:10 PDT 2008
Here in western PA, I paid $22,750 ($23,750 minus $1,000 rebate) + tax for '08 Access Cab 4x4 V6 Auto base model. Only options were sliding rear window and mats/door sills. MSRP was $25,139. Dealer (close to my home) had to locate due to color (silver), and I could have had a white one in stock at another nearby dealer for for $210 less. (Silver and white seem to be what's left of '08's with rebate in my area). I probably could have trolled the internet for a dozen quotes and saved a few hundred more, but time is money-- and the service manager at Baierl Toyota has been helpful with the frame issue on my '01. Inspection is tomorrow. Amazingly, two other nearby dealerships that provided initial quotes never followed-up. And I clearly indicated I was ready to buy (cash) within 24 hours.
2009 Toyota Corolla XLE
by terceltom on Tue Jul 08 14:59:52 PDT 2008
Wanted a 2009 Corolla XLE fully loaded, all dealers in the Lehigh Valley section of PA area have few 2009 Corollas let alone a XLE loaded. They tell me Corollas are flying out the door. Dealers don't get many XLE's anyway. Most people(unlike me) just move up to the Camry if they want a Toyota equipped well. I, on the other hand, prefer to stick with a Corolla for it's economy and then get it loaded the way I want. They said they would try to locate one from another dealer but basically I just think they just ordered one for me. I wanted moon roof, spoiler, stability control, JBL sound system, alloy wheels, body side moldings, mudguards and carpeted floor mats. Ordered it for around $500.00 under TMV or $1000.00 under MSRP. Not the best deal but the best I could do.
Residual set by DOLLAR amount?
by a6_to_m35 on Tue Jun 24 18:51:34 PDT 2008
I too am buying a Highlander Sport fully loaded in NJ or PA and I cannot get a dealer to quote a percentage residual value. They will only come up with a number. For a car with a 40k MSRP, residual value has been quoted by one dealer at $19196 or about 48%, and another at $18564 or about 46.5%. These are very, very low numbers and I can't seem to be able to negotiate them. I have never seen this before. Can anyone shed any light on this subject? I've also been told that Toyota Finance does not include GAP insurance for its leases and was quoted $525. Sound right? Also can the $550 aquisition fee be negotiated away or is it a must?
4x4 limited need opinion
by newwhip on Thu Jun 19 11:31:56 PDT 2008
I am looking at an 08 limited 4x4 with nav, sunroof, bluetooth and heated seats. and a few other little things I'm in PA. mspr $40,264 they offer it to me at $36,100 I can't get the $750 cash back because I want the 4.9% for 60 months. Does this seem reasonable or is it still high?
