Need Help In NC-RAV4: by supertortz on Mon Nov 13 14:32:26 PST 2006; Hello, I am new to car buying and need some polish to make my first big purchase a wise choice to start off on. I am interested in a RAV4 07' I was told there are no more 06' models in our neck of the woods (Jacksonville, NC) that would be a better deal than the deal being given for the 07', I am wondering if this is true... Dealer is giving an us the number 22,700 (MSRP is 22,250 base)for a 4WD, V4 engine, basic model no frills. And about 1,000 more for V6 (what I wanted, but he says much harder to find). What do I need to ask in particular to understand the nuances of making a deal? Should I say OTD what is your price? Should it be below MSRP? I have very good credit, and wonder what APR to negotiate for. I told him that my bank already approved me (which of course they would but I have been lazy in filling out the forms) for 5.99 rate (which is what my credit card is with them... :blush: NOW I think maybe in reality I could get a better rate....(my score is 750). dbehrens1 - An XR like yours is down south somewhere: by footie on Sun Jun 30 11:00:03 PDT 2002; Hi dbehrens1 You ordered a configuration on an XR that I've was looking for too. They are impossible to find or get here in New England, where the ABS is valuable - hence the reason Toyota sends them to the South East. I figured out that the SouthEastern Toyota dealerships ( AL, GA, SC, NC and FL) are getting 2WD XRs with 5spd, some of which are equipped like yours. If you check SavannahToyota.com, they don't have the spec car you asked for but the inventory listing says there are 39 other 2WD 5 spd XRs either at other SET dealerships or inbound to them. If you want to cut short your wait perhaps you could get your dealer to get one from down South! For example, I looked through all of the Lunar Mists XR 2WD 5spds and saw one that is config'd like your plus the moonroof option. It's VIN ends in XXXXXXXXXXX26A535 from the inventory listing. They don't tell you where it is but it is due to its dealer on 7/9, which means its probably in 'port' which I think is Jacksonville. Maybe your dealer could contact SET to see if they could get it. It has a high MSRP because down south they add 1970's rip-off packages called 'Toyo Guard' which includes stuff like 'paint sealant.' But perhaps if its an intra dealer deal, you could get that option price reduced to zero given its value. Good luck!
