Did I get a good deal? '06 4Runner Limited V8 4x4
by phiberop on Sun Mar 26 09:02:38 PST 2006
I delt with Sandy Springs Toyota in Atlanta, GA. The sales manager promised me $500 below invoice price as well as the $2000 rebate that is going on in March '06. He also stated that I wouldn't have to pay for any options I did not want and that he could get the vehicle from anywhere if he had to. I pondered over it for a day and got onto Edmunds to print out all my options and the invoice price. When I get back to the dealership the next day the sales manager couldn't locate a 4Runner that exactly matched what I wanted, and the closest match was in Winston-Salem, NC. I wasn't able to get the side air bags and the rear air suspension and shock upgrade that I wanted. So, he prints off a "factory invoice price sheet". And the invoice price is different from Edmunds! My Edmunds.com invoice price for the vehicle: $36,100 Their Toyota invoice price sheet: $37,300 He proceeds to tell me that Edmunds doesn't match up to their actual invoice price most of the time. So here's where I ended up: 2006 4Runner Limited V8 4x4 Driftwood Pearl Exterior, Taupe interior Options: Moonroof JBL Synthesis stereo Daytime running lights Toyo Plus Protection Group (I didn't want this) MSRP: $41,362.35 Their quoted invoice price: $37,300 Edmunds.com invoice price: $36,100 So, by his deal I was able to get the car for $500 below invoice, which came out to $36,800 from his invoice price. Here is my buyers order from there: Subtotal: $36,800 Service fee: $599.50 Total taxable: $37,399.50 Tax (7%): $2,617.97 TTL: $38 Warranty rights: $3 Total Cash Price: $40,058.47 Rebate: -$2000 Cash due on delivery: $38,058.47 So is this a good deal (and the one I thought I was getting) or did I just get scammed by a bait and switch? Is he correct by saying that the real factory invoice is different from what Edmunds tells you?
New 2005 LE-8
by pappy55 on Thu Nov 03 21:20:15 PST 2005
Just picked up a new 2005 LE 8-passenger with package 2 in natural white for $24,000 (24,900 out the door). Not exactly a great deal, but the wife just HAD to have it. Replaced a 1996 Ford Windstar that served us well at 153k miles. Didn't trade it - still sitting in our driveway with a "For Sale" sign on it. :D Shopped other brands but the Toyota really is the Lexus of minivans. With 3 kids, we love the 3-seat middle row. The flexibility is fantastic. Overall, haven't found any faults with the van. Very satisfied with the Sienna and Modern Toyota of Winston-Salem.
Follow Up - 2004 XLE V6 in NC or VA
by johnfromnc on Mon Apr 12 13:52:26 PDT 2004
Hank and NSS 167, thanks for your good advice. I'm amazed at the results so far. Again, this is for a 2004 Camry XLE V6 with leather heated seats and the stability/side airbags package (in effect, a below market Lexus ES300). Recall that the Consumer Reports invoice (not MSRP) came out at $25,136. And this was after subtracting the $506 dealer holdback (just another form of profit in my view). Merely by sitting at my friendly computer and following your advice, I've come up with the following offers. Carsdirect.com $26,998 Modern Toyota - Winston-Salem 26,441 Miller Toyota - Manannas VA 25,433 Ourisman Toyota- Fredricksberg 25,218 The MSRP is just under $29,000. I'm going to work a bit more on the price, but a low $25,000 number sounds pretty good. Prices are definitely lower in Northern Virginia, and they are more accustomed to Internet sales. Thanks again. John
My cost deal
by sdatta on Wed Oct 08 13:31:55 PDT 2003
I too am a Costco member. I live in Durham, NC. The deal I was offered was $1000 of MSRP from Modern Toyota in Winston-Salem. However, they will deliver to Durham for free. But I'm gonna wait until my other car gets paid off in January. Does anyone know when Honda will release their redesigned Odessy? If it's spring '04 I can wait.
Do not go to Modern
by dofer2 on Mon Sep 22 13:09:21 PDT 2003
Do not go to Modern Toyota in Winston-Salem, NC. They just "bait and switched". They changed their price after months of order being placed. Their reason? They need to scratch off the prices again and start on a new pricing list.
