Buying a car from a Toyota Car Dealer
Hi- a dealer in upstate NY quoted me the following for a 7 passenger LE FWD with option package #2 and alloy wheets--any thoughts on if either is a good deal? I'm willing to drive within ~3 hrs of Albany, NY if any recommendations. "The 2009 that I have here was a demo car (3600 miles) and has Package #2 with Alloy Wheels and floor mats--I can sell it to you for $25,755 plus sales tax and DMV. For the 2010, I can sell one to you for $26,455 plus sales tax and DMV." NY currently has a $1000 rebate until August 3rd--can someone tell me how important it is to get in on a rebate--I'm wondering if they might mark up their cars an extra $1000 during the rebate period and you're paying the same anyway (or maybe I'm paranoid-please advise!) many thanks
Thanks Dave. I will let you know how it turns out. Clark
"Kinderhook Toyota" in Kinderhook, NY (Capital District Area)... They were *amazing* to deal with...simplest automobile transaction I have ever participated in. They had two 2008 sequoias, the other one was a platinum...I think the MSRP was something around the $51k mark, advertised price was around $34k (and I assume the rebate on top of that), but I think it has since been sold. They also had great deals (I thought) on 2008 4runners (they had one or two advertised for around $23k (and I assume they were applying all rebates on top of that as well). They had a long list of "2008 specials" on their website, but the list appears to be down to just a couple of vehicles now... It was the kind of deal that I kept waiting for the "surprise", and it never came. Turned out to be the best car buying experience I have ever had...they didn't try to sell me extended warranties, didn't try to put me into a loan, no "paperwork fees"...the salesman was great...they didn't even take a deposit from me. Price aside even, I am glad I bought from them and will definitely give them a look the next time I am in the market again. The price was so low, I did not even bother trying to negotiate...I had talked to several other dealers in the capital district and western mass area, and none could come close. Feel free to drop me a note if you want more info... --Dave
Bogart, would you mind posting the dealer that you used? That is a great price.
Hey Folks - Just figured I would post my recent Sequoia purchase experience here for all those who are in the market... I am in the Albany NY area...while considering an offer from a couple of dealers, I came across an advertised special at a small local toyota dealership...2008 Sequoia, SR5, 5.7 V8...MSRP $46,538, advertised price online $31,995...which I thought was a great deal, so imagine my shock when they applied the $3000 rebate to that price! Total price was $28,995 + tax + reg. I am very happy with the price! The dealer was great, I can't say enough good things about them. No obnoxious "paperwork" fees, no obnoxious salesman, really great dealership to work with. I didn't haggle at all...the price was just too far below what I was negotiating with everyone else...I was getting offers of $34,500 (rebate included) for stickers of around $43000 at other dealers...I think I could have pushed the other dealers a bit harder and gotten a little bit more off, but not much, and my sense was nowhere even close to the deal I got. Anyhow, the deals are out there for the 08's folks...good luck!
