Satisfied buyer in New Mexico

I bought my RAV4 Basic from Beaver Toyota in Santa Fe NM. The salesperson was a really good guy -- he's since retired and moved to FL -- as are the financial people and the parts and service people. I did the Clunkers for Cash program: $5000 ($4500 for my '93 4-Runner + $500 dealer incentive) off the $24640 MSRP. There was a small misunderstanding about the financing, but they changed it to give me the lower rate discussed with the salesperson. There was no pressure, no "games", nothing like that from anybody. It's nice to give a positive report on a dealership, but hey, that's Santa Fe. :)

Finally got one! Got a package #2 (12mi) in white for 23458 OTD from Beaver Toyota in Santa Fe NM. Came with with that i wanted and the people there were great. If you live in NM leave Albuquerque and go to Beaver in Santa Fe. I didnt get angry once and they actually worked with me on the purchase (had a trade in.) Thanks for all the help in this forum you all made it great! One last question I was offered the 7 yr 75,000 for a little over $1000. Should I take it or go with another dealer and shop around. I have read on here people getting it for 860 and they told me at beaver if you can find a dealer for that get it.

Did you get the used one? Have you tried the Santa Fe dealer- they seem more flexible. I've been watching/looking in NM for awhile now. Let me know how you do and if you buy new or used. GOOD LUCK!

after months of indecision am the very happy owner of a new 06 ltd. loaded with x-reas,side air, hitch, stereo upgrade, lugs, + all the standard stuff of the ltd. Almost bought the sport but the ride of the 18" tire, nice leather seats, and very nice JBL stereo pushed us into the ltd for few thousand more. 37,754 with the 3.9 financing and got 1000 more on my trade then expected. Nice folks at Beaver Toyota in Santa Fe, NM. What a ride this suv is! thks to all for all advice! Anybody know much about the protective coatings on body & inside that dealer offers....is it negotiable after the sale? Is it worth doing?

I agree with your approach. If you go to Autotrader.com and specify a search for a new car and then build one for a Corolla LE, here's what you might get for example: MSRP $16,050 and Invoice of $14,426 for a Corolla LE with: CRUISE CONTROL CL $250.00 ETR AM/FM STEREO W/COMPACT DISC/CASSETTE PLAYER -inc: 6 speakers EJ $140.00 4-PIECE CARPETED FLOOR MAT SET (PPO) CF $76.00 50 STATE EMISSIONS FE $0.00 CARGO MAT (PPO) C1 $56.00 CARGO NET (PPO) GN $48.00. I'd say your offer was fine. The dealers wasn't. Part of the problem in Texas is Gulf States Toyota, which operates as a very strong distributor in your state. This is where port options get installed that you don't want. When you go to Toyota's national site and do a 'build your own', you end up at www.shopatgst.com which is run by GST. They have the same kind of 1970's useless option packages as South East Toyota does over in Atlanta. They sell things like vehicle etching (new car's major components have had vin numbers etched on them since 1993 due to a Federal law, so the window etching is useless and redundant). The also sell paint sealants and fabric sealants (and probably door to door encyclopedias too). All of these are good reasons to shop in another state nearby. You could try and call Beaver Toyota in Santa Fe, NM, they seem to be independent of GST's add ons...but alas, maybe that's too far. Good luck
