Buying a car from a Toyota Car Dealer
I am looking for a Lease on either the 2011 or 2012 RAV4 and visited a dealer in the NY area. He stated that Toyota does not offer a 3rd row in a limited edition with Leather and that I would have to buy a base model and have the dealer install the leather seats. Here is what I am being offered - 4 WD Base Model 4 cylinder RAV4 with 3rd Row option Dealer installed Leather Seats Cap Cost: $26000 Money Factor: 0.00001 Residual Value: $15,411 Term: 36 Months $332 per month for 15k miles per year $319 for 12k miles per year. Even though this would be considered a 0 down deal, the dealer stated that I would have to pay the bank fee ($650 plus tax, so $695), NJ taxes for lease period ($836), first month's payment and the NJ registration fee, so I guess I would be putting down around $2000. The dealer told me that the invoice for the base model itself was $24k and with the 3rd row option it was more. The leather installation was another $2k and that they were making pretty much no money for this sale. I wasn't sure if that was accurate and wanted an opinion from an expert before finalizing anything. I was tempted to ask him to include the integrated bluetooth feature and offer the 2012 model instead for the above numbers. I qualify for the top credit tier. Please let me know what your suggestion on whether this is a good price or not. Thanks for your help.
Wow! That's a great deal! Which dealership was that? We live in Northern NJ and for the same model they want $26,000 OTD (including a 7 yr 100mi Warranty)...but now I think it's not such a good deal. Same Camry SE (2012). Please tell us where you got your deal!!! Thanks :)
Had a very bad experience with James Toyota Scion in Flemington NJ. What they do is to give you a competitive price, and when you are onsite, they increase the price by several hundred dollars for whatever reason. (Even you have the confirmation of their price guarantee). They then try to convince you that the increased price is still a good deal. But when you insist that they should sell the car for the original price they guaranteed, the manager will tell you they change their mind. It is just waste time to deal with them. Just couldn’t believe they claim they are one of the best Toyota dealers in New Jersey. Do not ever want to do business with them!
They told me the car I wanted was in stock and they guaranteed $500 below invoice. When I got there (drove 30 miles from NYC), I was told that they didn't have the car I wanted (didn't have the color I wanted, the options I wanted, and a bunch of options I didn't want/need). And was told straight up that if I wanted the price they quoted me, I would have to take the one in stock. And they came back with a lease payment that they must have calculated on a broken calculator because they came up with $529/mo for 36mo/12k. The invoice was under 36,000; so the payment should be around $425/mo. I got up and said "I think we're done here and just walked out" Classic bait & switch.
Yesterday, I a bought a Camry 2012 SE with standard features. I wanted mp3 & blue tooth, and it is standard. (no premium or convenience package). I asked for 900 below invoice, and said I'll buy today from Lawrenceville, NJ. It worked over the phone. MSRP:24883 PAID:21826 Trade:1250 Customer Rewards : 100 (becuase I service my van there) With TTL On the road : 22203 Got 2.9% 60months I pulled the whole thing without much reading. ;) PL opine for others to compare. I declined the extended warranty because it 1500$, and they want to reduce only by 100. Same dealer gave extentended warranty for 880$. TFS told me when I bought, it can be bought before the 3year ends, and it can be bought from any toyota dealer. Pl give your insight on this.
