Re: FJ Cruiser for $2000 under sticker price [abraindrainer]
by geoffmi on Sun Feb 11 19:26:08 PST 2007
Detroit is not any better. I went to purchase a FJ from Victory Toyota, Canton, MI, and they are asking MSRP. I offered them 5 percent over invoice; minus 2 percent holdback and they rejected my offer.

Best Sienna purchase route.....
by kyunyoo on Thu Mar 23 13:27:13 PST 2006
Thinking about getting 06 Brand new Sienna, I was advised many different routes of purchasing the car. In the order of advertised price (cheapest first), those are, 1. Fitzmall 2. Carmax 3. Costco (?), 4. Local dealer... I can happily opt with minimum option CE 7 or 8 passenger. Then I found that Fitzmall is by far way better than any other options as it is offering even close to 21k (only for car). Even if I include doc fee of 99, it is still in 21k range... Discourating is it is too far away from my location (Fitzmall is in Washington area, while I am in Detroit MI area...) I can take a day off from my work and fly to there on Friday and drive the car for 5~600 miles back to my home town however,... I personally think that if I can get it at around 22k range including all doc fees and hidden fees (at 1k more than Fitzmall price), I would find it from locally. But local dealers in my area, all charge those interesting fees and fees and fees (advertisement fee etc). they even charge something like dealer loan fee even if somebody (my buddy) made a one time payment for his 05 Sienna early last year... As a result, his 05 CE 7 Passenger OTD price became 25k.... they advertised they can sell it at in-voice then, they made up for them by charging those interesting this and that fees.... This is actually one of the significant factor that Toyota dealer pushes me away toward honda dealer. When I bought my 3 honda/acura's, the deal was much simpler and easy, no hidden fees or advertisement fee things, just car price + 6% tax + title + $99 doc fee (which I consider is just a tip for the dealer ^^;), the figure of which are all provided before even visiting the dealer shop by phone or email. This time, I will try Toyota Sienna, if anyone can get me more advise regarding 1. Costco program experience 2. Fitmall experience for out-of-state buyer 3. any good local dealer in South Michigan area 4. Any alternative better way of purchasing brand new sienna.... Thank you in advance.
After 8 months wait, Price increase + de-content
by sylshop on Tue May 18 16:15:45 PDT 2004
(SE Michigan) 8 months ago I ordered LE 8pass Pkg 11 , finally it is ready to pickup. The dealer calls me to tell me that on April 1st, 04 the base price increased $220 and Pckg 11 got a de-content and lost the alloy wheels ($550 invoice/$699 retail) (Toyota actually did do that). The dealer's stand is that I should pay the $220 and live with the steel wheels and plastic cover; unless I want to buy the alloy wheels (say $625) Toyota's stand is that this is a dealer issue, and will not give a cashback or incentive or attempt any solution; their excuse is that the dealer knew the vehicle was not available 8 months ago. Here I am after 8 months, in order to get the vehicle I wanted, I have to pay an extra ~$900 including tax because Toyota would not allocate the vehicle in reasonable time, raised its price and did a de-content... Any similar experience out there, or any suggestions that may help alleviate this problem?
VIP pricing???
by rodc1 on Thu Oct 09 12:16:16 PDT 2003
I'm in Detroit, MI and the two dealers I went to hammered the point of absolutely no discounting on Siennas-only MSRP. So I called costco and was contacted by a Cincinnati dealer who states costco members get VIP pricing. I will call later today but for now has anyone heard of this before or is it more shady car dealer crap.
How Can One Navigate the '04 Toyota Sienna Purchasing Maze?
by sylshop on Mon Sep 01 13:40:23 PDT 2003
I have the same frustration as phil412 and coloj. The only thing the dealers seem to know is MSRP and the “supply and demand” catch phrase. When I ask about the wait for what I am looking for (LE 8-Pass. Pckg#11) or whether they can get it, all I get is a list of what they have coming and a bunch of non-commitments. I get the feeling they cannot get what I want or they are hiding something. This is starting to leave a sour taste for Toyota with me.    I am in southeast Michigan. I was willing to buy from Western NY at good % above invoice, but I was told that the list of vehicles Western NY can order from in September (which comes out a couple of days before the month) does not include LE 8 Pckg.# 11 but can only build pckg #1 or #4. I was told that Friday 29th. On the Toyota website where you can build your own vehicle, up to yesterday; the end of the month, I could build with pckg #11 using western NY zip code. Today 1st of September, pckg #11 is not available on the Toyota site, nor is pckg # 4! Why couldn’t I order Friday, I was still in August? If every month there is a new build list by region, then why is there a wait of more than one month? Why does one dealer in Michigan tell me that I should look on the Toyota site for vehicles available for my region and another dealer tells me I can order any vehicle I want? How can one navigate this maze? Is there a basic summary about the ins and outs of ordering, availability, allocations, builds by region and this whole chaotic mess Toyota is creating? If the dealers are lazy or ignorant to navigate it, why doesn’t Toyota make it available to the public to navigate for themselves? Thanks to everybody on this site for sharing their ideas and experiences. Well done Steve!
