Buying from 355 or fitzmall?
by perl5 on Thu May 01 09:34:58 PDT 2008
Did anyone buy from 355 or fitzmall even if you are not living in MD? My local dealer wont price match their price and I live 350 miles away from them. And are they reliable dealers?

Sure! Let's wait for a better deal in the coming summer.

jacky908 - you may have done better than you think. Here's the "invoice" prices: 4x4 LTD V6 $24,405.00 Freight $685.00 TDA $500.00 (estimate) LA Leather Seats $840.00 SR Moon Roof $720.00 EJ Radio $480.00 HD Heated Seats $352.00 CF Floor Mats (dealer Installed) $126.00 TO Tow Prep $128.00 RL Running Lights $32.00 TOTAL $28,268.00 Not sure what taxes and tags cost in NJ you but if you got OTD for $29,000, that's not too bad considering invoice is $28,268. On top of that, it sounds like you got some dealer installed options (remote starter, mirror, etc). Only negatives, I see are the 5,000 demo miles and the 7.74% interest rate. I just did a deal in MD for 5.25%. Times are tough and banks want to make you a loan. If your credit is good, they will bend over backwards to give you a good interest rate. I think the 3 month wait is BS; you should be able to refi as soon as you can get your hands on the title. In MD, that takes about 2 weeks.

kbatik - I haven't confirmed your invoice numbers but you logic is correct and, if your math is correct, I believe your number is a fair starting point. It's always better for you to let the dealer counteroffer with a higher price then for you to do the same with a lower price. As for the TDA, it is my experience with the dealers here in MD that they will always preserve the TDA. In fact, they also work very hard to also preserve the Holdback and Fin Reserve. Just remember you hold all the cards so walk away anytime you’re not comfortable because there is ALWAYS another car and there is ALWAYS another dealer.

thanks ddchemist. I just got a quote from 355 for $28,734 for the same vehicle. However, it doesn't look like I will be making a purchase until late July. If you purchase yours before me, please let me know how it turns out. I'll do the same.
Re: sales tax [achadha1]

achadha1 - How it is handled will depend on the dealer setup. Most MD dealers in the DC area can process VA title and tags and pay VA taxes for you. If you get a bit further out, the dealer may not be set up to do this for you. In that case, you will get a MD temporary tag and pay nothing regarding tax, title, license (other than for the temporary tag). You will then go to the VA DMV where you will pay tax, title, and tags yourself. You will need you sales paperwork so DMV can calculate the tax due.
