My Quest for a Majestic Grey 2008/SE/Auto.
by vthakore on Sun Mar 02 15:32:02 PST 2008
I did the same thing. I checked pricing at the following dealers, with the same options: Darcars AutoGroup Antwerpen Toyota Toyota of Bowie Bill Kidd's Toyota Waldorf Toyota Carmax Toyota in Laurel Jerry's Toyota. But my one big thing was color, it had to be Majestic Grey and it had to be a 2008 inorder to receive the $1k rebate. Initally Darcars gave me the best deal but by the time I was ready to buy (Sat), they had sold the last two Majestic Grey's available from there three md/dc/va dealer, then I remembed that Antwerpen had one, and they too had sold there's the evening of Sat. I had one dealership left that had the ONLY 2008 Majestic Grey available and that was Jerry's Toyota. I called them at 8pm and spoke to the salesperson and confirmed it had the options I wanted and threw an offer to them with free floor mats. I was on hold for about 10 mins and then the salesperson said he could the deal and for me to come in right away. I got to the dealership at 8:50pm and the place closed at 9pm. I had the deal wrapped up by 10:50pm and was walking out the door happy! Got her for $21,748.32 Out the Door after rebate. Had a great experience! :)

You can get a loaded AWD model for probably $38k, in fact it shouldn't be hard at all. Start here: http://fitzmall.com/ Do a Search for Sienna. You can sort by price, go to the last page to find the loaded up ones. In a nutshell, the EVP #1 adds the DVD and the power outlets, and the #2 adds GPS NAV and a backup screen. So a Limited with packages 1 and 2 is basically fully loaded. I think you can get all that under $40k easily, even including MD's 6% tax. Cross-shop with 355Toyota.com (DARCARS in Rockville) and CarMax Toyota in Laurel. Even Jim Coleman next to Montgomery Mall has a Toyota store with prices up on their web site, just read the fine print for each. I did a quick search - Fitz has LTD #1s for under $34k, LTD #2s for under $35k. But they do not have any FWD in stock with both packages 1 and 2. Get the package 2 and just get an aftermarket DVD player. I got a 12" screen for $900 at Circuit City. OE is 9".
2008 LE 8-Pass purchased...

I picked up a beautiful Slate Metallic Gray 2008 Sienna LE 8-passenger (Toyota model # 5338A) last night at CarMax in Laurel, MD. First of all, the transaction was fast and smooth. I paid the Internet price and they only asked me once to buy an extended warranty, which I did not. I was in the store and out with my new van in 30 minutes. Detailed pricing info is below; From Sticker $26,015 MSRP N/C 50 State Emissions (FE) 410 Alloy Wheels (AL) 1,510 EVP Package #2 (QF) 70 Daytime running lights/Wiper deicer (RL) N/C Preferred owner's portfolio (DK) 214 Carpet floor mats/Door sill protector (CF) $28,904 Total Before Discount -1,085 Extra Value Package MSRP Discount $27,819 Total Factory invoice price is $25,488 Price paid $25,738 (exactly $250 over invoice) Plus $99 doc. fee, tax, tags (total OTD was $27,355) Two notes; 1) FitzMall only charges 3 dollars over invoice ($247 less), but they did not have the inventory at this time. 2) I suppose if 2008's start selling well, Toyota could remove the Extra Value Package MSRP Discount. I'm not sure there is precedence for this, but it is possible. It is like an up front rebate that can be removed by deleting a couple of lines on the window sticker.

23,850 plus 100 fee plus tax(5%, tax the rebate also) tags and title in MD. Total was about 24450 or so. Had option two, 8 pass, mats, and I see there is also a cargo net I did not ask for. Price is a little less than I saw on fitzmall.com and carmax laurel. I think you could even do better since I did get an offer for 23,725.

I bought in MD, 23.9 is basically what I saw at fitzmall (they actually have a little higher) and carmax toyota laurel. So basically I got a no-haggle price from a haggle dealership. I did not yet fnalize though, since he had to get the car from another dealership, I am going in on Mnday. we'll see if they try to add anything. I expect only to pay 4 other things, tax, tags , license, and $99 processing. Any idea what these total? I took the $1500 rebate, I have read on this board that you can now get both rebate and financing, but they offered me one or the other. If anyone can confirm this PLEASE let me know immediately. Not sure what 4 year registration you are refering to. If they are offering an alarm on top of the immobilizer, this would probably not save any more on the insurance, just make noise and bother the neighbors.

It seems a little high, it depends how much your time spent for haggling is worth to you ...there does come a point where one gets so sick of going back and forth on price and settles on what I call my po'd price...at what number will I be po'd if I have to go any higher? I'd try to get down in the 25300 range. For a model with cloth and not much else in terms of bells and whistles, This is how I got my target price: Invoice less 400(holdback approx.)then multiply by 1.03 as a starting point. That signals the dealer that you are serious and recognize they need to make some profit off the sale. I'd also try to go to the dealer with the most RAVs on the lot in your area, they seem to have more room to negotiate. You can always go to fitzmall.com, if you're in the NY area you can see if driving down to Laurel, MD makes sense. I was going to do it from Mass. but my local dealer gave me a good price. Good luck!
