For what it's worth, I got a Bl. Blue, Hatchback, 5-spd, power package, ABS, Side AB, keyless entry (no I didn't really want this or the power pkg much. I can reach across, the Mrs. less-so, and then the back and forth mirror changes would be painful), Floor and Cargo mats, the ubiquitous "All Wx Guards" and destination charge. Oh, almost forgot, a DK (which I am told is a leather operators manual holder (I REALLY wanted that!). MSRP = $14,500, Invoice =(from Edmunds and such) ~ $13,350 Cost $13,722 with $100/2 dealer some processing add-on or other. But there was another $400 off for military financing or (not and) if you are a recent graduate. So, all told, $13,322 (not counting taxes, or the $15 or so bucks for temp tags). I imagine one could do better with more effort. But I was already tired-out from deciding if I was going to get a new car at all, and if it would be a Corolla or Yaris (which had more character of course. I argued with myself that the Corolla was possibly the better buy, and there is certainly more fat to be pared off the invoice bone there, particularly since the 2008 (exactly the same except for 35hwy miles now (new math)) are now landing on the lots. I figured my sanity (between running from one dealer to another and finding all sorts of hidden this or that charges...) was worth the perhaps 200-400 I likely left on the table. Best of luck to all. It seemed like an obvious buy for the money. The dealer was pretty easy-going, compared with some I've seen, and they do give you a free this or that for the time you own it. Koons Annapolis, MD. Prices might have been a little less to the same, at Fitzgerald Auto Mall, or Miller Toyota...but I was getting weary and have only so many hours per week for such frivolity.
Buying a new Camry LE l4 w/ sunroof
by sh4dali on Mon May 28 00:50:14 PDT 2007
Hello I'm in a search for a new camry LE 4 cylinder w/ sunroof only. I've been doing some research and reading helpful forums for a while and I'm thinking of 20,000 OTD to offer to dealers and trying to get the car for 21,000 OTD. Is this pretty resonable? I live in Hanover, MD which is near Annapolis. Thank you

Also try Koons Toyota in Annapolis (MD), Arlington, or Tyson's Corner (both in VA). The online contact at Annapolis is great (the rules don't allow me to mention his name). I worked only with Annapolis because I didn't want to deal with a two hour trip to Tysons or 90 minutes to Arlington. Between the three locations, they had over 300 Prius last week. I did everything online and was in the dealership just over two hours. Would have been shorter if they hadn't been delivering five cars and had only one finance guy. The Tysons location is a big lot and building in a crowded area. I've never seen the Arlington location. The Annapolis location is in a very old dealership inherited from some other make and is on a small piece of property right in the city. They have little room and have to move cars quickly, in my opinion. I also suspect they have a low overhead due to the age of the building. Good luck. Package fives are scarce in the DC area. I never saw one in a week of searching at four dealerships. Koons has most of their cars at Tysons, maybe they have one out there.

Hi mrowland, I have previously posted my complete 8/04 experience in searching/buying (I live in Columbia, MD area). You can search for scottnrose to find this quickly. In summary, I would look at either Darcars or Koons Toyota Annapolis. I came very close to buying from Koons in Annapolis - they state that they will beat all other deals by $100. If you want to go that route, get an online quote from Darcars and take it to Koons. The advantage of Darcars is they have 3 sites and LOTS of vehicles. Therefore, you can more easily find the right color and included options. Scott

Thanks Larry. I'm closer to Annapolis, but Timonium is a short drive away...
