2008 RAV4 buying in the Louisville,KY area=Time wasted

Well, it doesn't look like end of month/year is a great time in this area to be looking for a Rav4. Previous posts on here indicated there wasn't much motivation at Louisville area Toyota dealers and they were right. I've emailed and visited, and am getting quotes very near MSRP, plus one dealer just told me they'd have to charge me $250 to "locate" a Rav4 for me. That little Honda is looking better all the time. gonna have to switch forums!! Thanks for all the great insight on this thread. Ellay
Buying hassle in Louisville
by webbe on Sun Dec 02 06:57:34 PST 2007
Hi, Yes we live in Louisville, Ky and been helping my daughter with her purchase and it is all just just a hassle. I have bought before but forgot how much I dislike dealing with these sales people. The prices she has been quoted is not bad but the run around on getting it. Don't know if there telling the truth or just want to sell her higher priced ones. Dealers will tell you something to get you there and in the process and then have some excuse. I am also going through the process only on a different make. She has waited about 6 weeks and still no Rav4. She has been told that Toyota only builds so many Base ones and even if the dealer preferences it there (to their lot) their is no guarantee they will get it or when. Seems they make mostly the sport and limited. Some of this is due to the fact that it is not yet 2008 but mostly to try to get the sales person to sell the higher priced ones (sport and limited). As according to one of the dealers Toyota has taken a more conservative approach by not building the base ones. My daughter has decided to go ahead with the sport since he agreed to it for about $1000 more and has what she wants with a few extras but even then it is coming from one of the surrounding states if he can as she is wanting the black 4x4 6 cl. This was decided as of yesterday. The whole process is just such a unnecessary pain. He has quoted her $26,000 for the sport. Webb

On the purchase order there were two items that were hard printed.(not computer print). They were special benefits package (for about 598) and documentation fee(another 100 bucks) Wanted to know if it is the case with all dealers or is it something particular in KY ? (Other dealers in KY also seem to have similar numbers)

Bought a new 06 Limited Avalon with NV, VS, CL, CF for 34K plus Taxes (6%). Sticker was $37705. Dealer in Evansville, IN (Kenny Kent) was extremely helpful, professional and had no no-nonsense over the phone Quote. Took twenty minutes to paper work and out with the car. Will strongly recommend anyone considering a new or pre-owned Toyota to consider this dealership. Dealer in east end of Louisville, KY (like many others) wanted me to come to showroom to "see and talk". After firm agreement about the price, salesperson brought papers with nearly $800.00 of dealer commisions added to agreed price. Not only did the guy wasted my 45 minutes, but also lost my business as well as trust. Wonder when will these dealers learn that business needs to be done honestly and with trust.I think Edmunds should not list such dealerships in E mail, that use internet simply to try and play old game of wasting a customer's time.
need to find best deal in orlando or louisville
by heyunclej on Fri Apr 01 13:23:14 PST 2005
hey there. i'm looking for a 2005 awd Rav4, with L package, mud flaps, roof rack, automatic, not sure what color yet. I live in Louisville, KY but have some strong ties down in Orlando FL. A couple of days ago, I got a quote from 'a friend' that works at a dealership in Orlando FL. Her pricing was as follows...MSRP $23,980...will sell to me for $22,000---which is $108 over their invoice of $21,891, then minus the $500 rebate.....out the door pricing, tax tags etc.....$22,400. I'm new to this, so i need help. I would like to pay at invoice or under if possible...i want to pay no more than $21,000 out the door. Am i just dreaming, or is this possible for me to achieve. I was looking at the Hyundai Tucson's, but i've seen a lot of negative feedback on them, and now i definitely want to go with the Toyota Rav4---I just need to find that deal. thanks!
