If you don't mind driving a prior rental car, there should be some used 09 (and 08) models on the market in the near future, albeit with 4,000 to 25,000 miles on them. Some will be sold as certified by Toyota dealers if the dealer wants to spend the time and effort to do Toyota's certification inspection. The major rental car companies are also feeling the pressure of keeping a fuel efficient fleet and Corollas are also popular rental cars.

Get 10-20 email bids last week of the month. July and August should be a shooting gallery for these vehicles. The market for trucks is slower than mud. If you look up a used 07 version of the new 08 you are looking at via kbb.com with avg miles you will probably find it has a trade in value of about 14000 or more off msrp for about a 33k truck. You may actually find it hard to trade it in for $16000 off msrp for another vehicle with the gas situation the way it is. As one could see 10000 off msrp isn't exactly giving the truck away for a new one. Also do the same with competing Chevy and Ford models. The used truck market for 05s-07s could be astonishing if tried. With all the trade-ins repos and trucks coming off lease one may be surprised at how low below kbb *trade-in* value (not dealer retail) a good lo-mi 07 with remaining warranty could be had. Good luck --jjf It was to be a cash deal and yes it included the business owners discount.
09 Corolla in Winter Park, FL
by psciortino on Thu Jun 26 08:13:19 PDT 2008
We bought a 09 LE Corolla 6-23-08 from the Winter Park, FL Toyota dealer Internet Sales team. They were quick on the floor but a bit slow on the internet. We were treated very respectfully. The numbers are as below: Out the Door: $17050 for a LE with carpets and cruise control. No other options. Price Quoted: $17,624--with a full tank of gas--got to be worth at least $50. Dealer Documentation fee: $599.95 Discount: $1607.24 Rebate: $750.00 Net Cost: $15866.71 with a lifetime warranty of the powertrain (comes with all Courtesy Toyotas) Based on my repair experiences this is worth about $3-500) Tire disposal and other misc. fees: $48.50 License Tag fees $110.00. May get some of this back. Sales tax: $1024.79 Out the Door: $17050. with carpets, cruise control and NO TOYOGUARD, NO OTHER OPTIONS WHICH RAISE THE PRICE AND GIVE LITTLE VALUE SUCH AS RADIO UPGRADE, KEYLESS ETC. I WANTED VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL BUT COULDN'T FIND A LE IN THE SOUTHEAST WITH VSC. THEY WERE UNWILLING TO TAKE BACK THE $245 CARPETS.

Here's where I don't get it. $27,000 for a Prius that gets what, 46MPG? A decent Toyota Yaris can be had for $14,000 and gets 31MPG. At 15,000 miles a year at EVEN A WHOPPING $7.00 per gallon of gas, that would mean.... Yaris $3,387.10 Prius $2,282.61 WOW!!! WATCH OUT BILL GATES, WE HAVE AN ANNUAL SAVINGS OF $1,104.49 IN GAS MONEY!!!! 5 year loan at 6% plus 8% sales tax for $27,000 Prius = $563.74 per month 5 year loan at 6% plus 8% sales tax for $14,000 Yaris = $292.31 per month Prius costs $271.43 more per month but saves only $92.04 in gas money AT $7 PER GALLON!!! That's a NET LOSS of $179.39 per month for 60 months = -$10,763.40 FOR THE ENTIRE LOAN. HMMMM...WE COULD BE INVESTING THAT $179 PER MONTH AND MAKING MONEY (MORE ON THIS LATER). The media has brainwashed us (except me) into thinking we must all drive a Prius. Again, these numbers were assuming $7 GAS. It's realistically even sadder for the Prius assuming $4-$5 per gallon. And since it's now 2013 after you pay off the loan, the market is now flooded with the Prius and other Hybrids and 40-50MPG vehicles, you can bet that resale values after 5 years are NOT going to make up for that almost $11,000 LOSS. Plus, as I said earlier, if you had invested that $179 you would have saved per month with the Yaris, even at 5% gains you would have a small fortune which would be impossible for the Prius' resale value to compare to.

i think that is a good deal. esp when the $750 rebate is not available anymore. IN my case (see above) many other stores doesnt even want to sell me the car at the price above, the above is like $800 below invoice!
