Buying a car from a Toyota Car Dealer

IL Toyota Car Consumer Discussions

Re: 2011 Toyota camry LE $19500 [ahalyaa1] by cc62966 on Sun Jun 20 08:44:39 PDT 2010

I guess the price is not bad for a St. Louis dealer. I tried a couple of dealers in STL area (both MO and IL sides) and they were all very close in price and didn't offer a real good deal. I think East coast volume dealers have better prices, and I ended up getting one from Augusta, GA for a few thousands less.

2006 Limited AWD w/NAV buying experience by reentry on Sat Jan 27 21:07:51 PST 2007

Hi all, Since I got such great advice reading all the emails I thought I would post my buying experience. I wanted a 2006 Sienna Limited AWD with NAV. I live in Chicago and I emailed 27 dealers from Indiana all the way to Wisconsin. I got 9 replies with cars that matched. The car has a 43K MSRP and the prices ranged from $36,989 up to $37,900. I then emailed back the responders and waited for the best price which ended up being the 36,989 with the 0% for 60months. Actually they had 2 in stock and my friend ended up buying the other one. I had a great experience at Fox Lake, IL Toyota. It was a 90 minute drive but the internet salesperson was straight forward and honest. Everything was done by email and I was in and out of the dealer in an hour. I did not have a trade-in. I took the 7yr/100k Platinum warranty. I brought in emails from www.siennaclub.org forum showing people getting it for about $850 from a dealer out East. They matched it +$50 so I just signed with them. :) Good lunch everyone.

Looking for SE I4 w/Side/Curtain Airbag...Help me what to do by kthan on Tue Sep 13 10:30:09 PDT 2005

I am currently looking for 06 SE (I4) with side/curtain airbag (GY). The option is not available in my region (chicago...IL, WI, MN, IN). Based on my own search, the vehicles with this option are available in Southeast (GA, FL...) and Atlantic (MD, VA, etc) region, but very low availabilty. I searched So Cal, MI, OH, TX..but no success. First, I want to know if any other region (not mentioned above) have the SE with GY option, please let me know. Second, is there anyway I can ask the local dealer to transport the vehilce from out of state dealder? I am also in contact with Toyota Customer Service on this and I will see how they respond with this situation. Third, I might fly, buy, and bring the car back. Since I live in chicago, I might do it in East Coast (ex: MD, VA, GA,..), but it seems to be an hassle (drive a brand new car over 800-1000miles with less than 55-60mile speed for 10-12 hours). Fourth, I might use a flatbed trailer(truck) to ship the car from outside of dealer. Since I've never done this before, I am worried about transit time, possible damage, some unknown risk/hassle, and, of course, the transit expense (guess, about $800). I don't know what to do. Please help me/advise me to resolve the situation. (You might ask why only SE I4 with GY?): I originally thought LE I4 (for gas reason, I want to trade my 00 LE V6 into I4), but after two test drives, found their poor braking (slide/mushy...due to rear drum?) and loosened suspension. Then, I drove SE. The brake is as nice as mine (00 LE V6..rear disc) and it has tighter handling, not as bumpy as I expected (I couldn't find the difference between LE and SE). That's why I really want to get SE I4 with GY (I think it is a must in all trim..., though I prefer to add VSC... but it is totally impossible in any 4cylinder trim).
