Re: 2008 Corolla LE in GA [jaanbaz]

I got my 08 LE AUTO at Sandy Spring Toyota on last Friday: Out-door $15K even w/ 95 Camry LE (240K miles) trade-in ($700). I cut ~$180 from last offer ($14288). World Toyota's offer was simliar to the new car but only $500 for trade. Also, I like Grey & World Toyota only has Beige (my 2nd choice). Mall of GA may have more choices but almost all come w/ Toyoguard which I don't want to invest. Only one dealership you don't need to try - Roswell Toyota. the answer I got is why do you need quote? The MSRP is! This is my 1st time to get this kind answer from Toyota/Lexus dealer(I got 4 Toyotas/Lexus)! Only Honda/Acura dealers do this way. By the way, if you live in the South, you may try Union City Toyota. Their DOC fee is lower. I almost got 02 Sequoia from them (I got 03 from Sandy Spring later). The only problem was the truck was ~300 miles away (in SC). I didn't want my new truck w/ several hundreds of initial mileage. I am in Alpharetta now (used to in Peachtree City), so, I don't try Union City for Corolla this time. Anyway, I highly recommand Sandy Spring. If you do need contact info, please let me know.

[cooljw] Unfortunately, I believe manual anything in this class of car is becoming more rare. I believe young people don't like to drive manuals any more. Why? I dunno, maybe they like paying for the auto tranny that wastes gas, you tell me. I appreciate the reply to my message. I haven't had a chance to check your post but I will. The dealer told me specifically about how Toyota pulls cars out of the pipe line and changes the order, and that only takes 4-6 weeks (which is fine with me I'm in no rush to get insurance right away). So I am familiar with that process. Now I just recently emailed all the dealers in my local area. However, I live in a remote area so when I say my local' area i mean in a radius of 400 miles. The closest other Toyota dealer is 90min in three directions. All the dealers gave me quotes w/ in two days and frankly they are all pretty consistent. I even gave them the OTD price that I had and asked them to beat it and all they could do is beat it by $84.00 on the average. One was even $30.00 OVER! (That dealer ship is in Roswell, NM. I would recommend that anyone in that area shop elsewhere they are just crooked. They reported the MSRP on my config to be $18,400, which is way over the MSRP. Like I don't know what the MSRP is, sheesh.) There was one in Albuquerque that had one similar to my configuration on the lot. I crunched the numbers and his offer too was only about $80.00 under my local dealer. Albuquerque is 400 miles away and I'm not willing to drive 400 miles for 84 smakeroos. Its not ever worth the gas. So as you can see even a car on the lot is the same price as a "special pipeline order." I am going to email them all tonight to see if they can do any better, otherwise I'm just going to go with my local dealer. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. MM

I got it from Toyota of Roswell, Atlanta
LE 8 passenger, option 7
by tjm6 on Thu Sep 04 16:48:57 PDT 2003
Hello On July 28th I signed a buyer’s order for an LE 8 passenger with option package #7, floor mats and cargo net for 26,876 (1,283 under MSRP). This does NOT include the 389 “doc” fee, and 26 for title and New Car Warranty Act, and 7% tax. I took delivery on August 14th. After calling Toyota I learned that ours is NOT one with the problem gas tank. My impression is that this is a fair deal considering the market in our area, and the fact that we got our van in 2 weeks is outstanding. All in all, I’m very happy. Roswell Toyota, Atlanta: Pretty smooth sailing. I dealt with the leasing/inventory manager there, who seemed a straight shooter; cannot tell you what the salespeople are like because I do not know. His initial offer was pretty much straight MSRP (just like the other dealers in this area) but I shopped around and got a better price, and when I went back to them he beat the best offer I had by 200 and I stopped there. (Might have kept playing, but from what I was reading this was “ballpark reasonable” for our area and I did not think I could do significantly better within a reasonable distance from our house). Also, this person seemed more optimistic about his ability to get a van within 2 months (at that time) than the others I spoke with. Thank you to the participants on this board who encouraged me not to pay MSRP (I would have otherwise). I saved a little money and feel better about the deal because of this discussion. By the way, I was quoted 27,594 (plus tax, 21 title, and NO doc fees, etc.) from the Costco program, FYI. Took the van on 2 trips, (mostly highway) and got 25.6 mpg on one trip and 21.5 on the other. On the second, we drove 75 mph for hours on end, while we drove at lower speeds on the first trip.
XLE w/#14
by kbpa on Tue Jul 15 04:52:13 PDT 2003
April, I am not sure of the situation in your area of the country. Here in the SE region, it is impossible to find an XLE w/#14 because the SE region has chosen not to order this configuration. They prefer to order "stripped" versions of each trim level and then install the options locally. Even if you ignore the financial implications of this model, it still sucks because some options (stability control, rear disc, side airbags, window shades....) can not be installed outside of the factory. However, it is possible to get one if one is very persistent. I just placed an order yesterday for an XLE w/#14. This is the second time in a month that I have placed an order. The first dealer refused to do the extra work required to get a package #14 in the SE region and finally returned my deposit. (The dealer was Roswell GA Toyota, stay away from them.) The order I placed yesterday was with Tuscaloosa, AL Toyota and I am cautiously optimistic of delivery by end of August. Re: price, In 2 months of shopping, the best I was able to get was $1000 off of MSRP (after the dealer admin fees were added). If your goal is to get close to invoice in the next several months, you probably need to visit your local Honda dealer. At this point, it is just basic supply and demand. I am in the same spot you are in - I need a van now and could not wait 6-9 months for the early adopter demand to be satisfied and other manufacturers' models to soften the overall market supply. Good luck!
