Hi, they tried to steer me in that direction (base model Corolla). Also tried the Scion XB ($$$). I don't like Corollas at all. In FL they are EVERYWHERE....like grass. The Corolla style needs a makeover like ASAP! Don't know how they are going to because the Yaris sedan looks like it could be the makeover Corolla. I have wanted a hatchback for years after I had such great success with the 93 Hyundai Excel (138K trouble free when traded).

I got my SLE convertible (Cosmic Blue with ivory interior) today. The only option that I got was the floor mats. My out the door price was $28,424 (includes $3,200 for trade-in of my Celica). I got $500 off MSRP and no documentation fees. I bought my Solara at Toyota of Hollywood which is located in Hollywood, FL. The entire deal was with the internet salesperson and I really enjoyed buying the car this way.
Should I wait?

I have a deposit on an LE (quoted $24,344) with package 1 (AM) {trip computer, auto sliding door on passenge side, and rear audio}-$500, and free floor mats, for a total before tax of $24888 (is this a good deal?). Should I go for it or hold out until 2005 when the hybrid (hopefully) comes out? And when will it come out? Could it be later this year?? I am toying with the tax credit for qualified electric vehicles as this moment? Need feedback. (in South Florida)

Well you did better than I did locally. I was only able to get $1800 off of MSRP...Maroone told me they would do $2500 over cost...nice guys, huh. I gave a deposit but then when I though about it, net of my trucking expense, I was saving 2200-2400 dollars. Better in my pocket. I can't email from the location I'm at but I will e-mail you later today and give you my salesmans name...you should probably talk to him since he's just been down that road with me. The van was a $37,753 list price. I also found out that they aren't making any more or if so very, very few with the HF package (#5). It comes w/ rear spoiler, DVD w/ headphones, 2 115V outlets,etc...Also, Artic Frost was extra cost and I got the Z1 package which isn't even offered as a complete package in FL. And best of all, they don't load their cars up with fluff like "TOYOGUARD" like they do in the south. I also got wheel locks and Z1 package comes with floor mats, door sill protectors, first aid kit, and cargo net. I wound up getting vehicle for $33,763 including the dealers $100 over. It cost $550 to truck down. They were great to deal with so far...car should be here today or tomorrow the latest. I can't wait. The only thing with ordering out of state is that you have to come up with lump sum of taxes when car is in FL. They also gave me a good rate on financing...3.19% for 60 months. Locally, I live less than 2 miles from Maroone Toyota. Hollywood seems to be a better dealer to deal with. Also, one other thing to consider re: DVD players. I've heard that you want to get the factory installed because it's not RF controlled...ie tuning in a radio station to hear audio on movies. For one thing, if you go on a trip, you will have to change the local station as signal fades and you also get static no matter how good the reception is. Hardwired is much better. As far as warranty, they were expensive. There's a dealer "Midway" Toyota in Pocomoke MD that has the 7year 100K mile warranty w/ 0 deductible for $815 (Platinum). You have to ask for finance manager to get that price.

For those who responded to my initial post, please accept my apologies for not getting back to you earlier. Sandman46, I live in Davie. I have never been to the locations you mentioned. Have visited Toyota of Hollywood, would never buy from them. I will check the locations you mentioned. Thank you. Masspector, I just checked Edmunds for my area and it came up with $22,272 minus $500 rebate final total is $21,772. It would seem that the $21,800 is legit. Thank you for the response.

I live in Fort Lauderdale and tried to call interenet dept at Ed Morse in Delray Beach. I even used a different name and had them as a referral through AutoBytel or one of those other car buying services online. They flat out told me when I called, "Hey, we don't get that many of these cars a month...we used to charge a premium over list price...now we're only charging full list". Now, I am buying an XLE Limited...so maybe they don't get that many a month...but I would never pay list or over list price for any car especially a minivan. I went to Maroone Toyota in Weston and Hollywood Toyota and was quoted $1500 and $1800 off full sticker (with a little work) but both gave me $1000 off with no work...as soon as I spoke to them. Ed Morse would never get my business and I would recommend anyone who's local here in Florida to not buy from them either. I wound up buying out of state anyway and as I've stated in previous posts got the van for $3800 off of list. Realize that even if you were to get the van at dealer invoice, they are still making 2% holdback and TMD and whosesale markup profit when combined comes out to about anywhere from $850 to $1100 (which they are entitled to). So when a dealer tries to charge list price, they are way out of line and probably figure that if they throw that number out at enough people, some will bite. There, now that is my 2 cents worth...
