Re: Philly Subaru dealers [sweetsoul]

The dealer that I used in NJ since '92 went OOB and the franchise was taken over by Haldeman in Hamilton Square. They do not have a good reputation and the former service manager at Nitti Subaru recommended Miller Subaru on Route 38 in Lumberton, NJ. I took my Subaru there for some minor issue and was impressed by their service department. I both heard and read very positive things about their sales department. The advertise as a Philadelphia area dealership, so you should give them a try.
Re: 2010 Outback with 3.6 worth the extra $$? [uthumvee]

We live in the hilly part of NJ, sometimes do long journeys and also drive around NY City; when we had rental cars with smaller engines we found the fuel economy was less than expected since we always had pedal to the metal to keep up the speed we expected. For us the larger engine with auto was a very simple and easy preferred choice and after all, we have down sized from much larger V8's...

So you cancelled the deal over $191 .. only you can be sure about how happy you were with the car, spec and the deal you had, but over that amount if that was the only dealer fees being added, I don't understand your reaction. Being in NJ and having purchased in CT - I can say there will always be fees, but I agree they should be up front and clearly stated. As for the new order, you would have lost the tax deduction (must be delivered by end of December) and who knows about the 3.9% special interest rate that officially ended yesterday! (Without any web site news of what replaces it). I think they were realistic about the delivery date. I would shop around for the spec you wanted and see what you can get from stock, if you need to order, the fees for the Metro area seemed OK. Good luck

I Finally pulled the trigger. I got a 2.5X Limited (Spark Silver) with the following accessories: PZEV Auto Dim Mirror w/Homelink Luggage Compartment Cover Rear Bumper Cover Splash Guard Kit Reverse Sensors XM Radio Bodyside Molding Wheel-Arch Kit Purchased it at Lester Glenn in Toms River, NJ for $26,400, w/ $169 Doc Fee +Sales Tax+ Tags. Good dealer experience, there weren't pushy on any of the extras! Will be picking it up next week. Happy that Subaru has the "Share the Love" program that donates $250 to the charity of my choice. Now wondering if I should gotten the extended gold warranty? Thanks for everyone's help advice and sharing their experiences! Can't wait to drive it off the lot! Danny

Seriously - again? Rafferty Subaru, PA is not one of those dealers. I literally just picked up my new OB from them lastnight. The $300 MSRP difference is just the PZEV engine charge directly from Subaru, you'll find it in any other PA Subaru as well as several other states. All of you wanted the details of the transaction and I gave it you. It couldn't have been a better experience. All of you are looking for a good reputable dealer who won't play games, I gave that to you as well. I paid invoice, there were no hidden fees, no gimmicks, no tactics - I got exactly what I asked for from the extended warranty to my trade-in value. So I actually have the first-hand buying experience from start-to-finish at this dealer. I have given you my recommendation, that doesn't come lightly as if you read in previous posts I was burned by the first dealer I went to. So take my experience, my information, or not. I am just trying to help...to support a good dealer with the props they deserve. Instead of all the negative buying experiences you typically see... I am actually posting a great one. Take it or leave it - it's up to you.
