Purchase of 2010 2.5i Limited Outback
by ncdude on Fri Nov 06 20:04:08 PST 2009
Today I went to either purchase or order an Outback from Huff Subaru in Wytheville, Va. I had been dealing with the internet manager who suggested I order since I didn't see anything in their inventory which I liked. A day or so ago I was informed that they now had one in stock like I wanted so I would not have to order. Immediately, I thought I was about to be the target of the old "bait and switch" technique. To my surprise, the car at the dealership had more options than I originally wanted, but they honored my original deal!!. There was no hassle, no outrageous add-ons, no pressure. It was the most pleasant car-buying experience I have ever had, and I came out of the dealership without having the feeling I had been" raped and pillaged". This dealership apparently wants to sell Subarus and they are not afraid to deal. So, if you live in nw-NC,ne-TN,sw--VA or southern WVa and are in the market for a Subaru, I suggest you contact them.
Outback Advice-2009-Used

I am in the midst of dealing for a 2009 2.5 i with Nav. Outback with 11,500 miles-dealer internet price is just under $20,000-I want to negotiate for a lower price-I would be happy with OTD for 20,000. I like the car and like the color-but can wait...seems that the inventory in my area for NEW 2009 Outbacks is scarce-NE PA. I have to drive 2 hours for this car with my wife and daughter in the car-already gave $500 to hold the car til I come this weekend. Called my local Subaru dealer and will talk with them tomorrow about if they can deal, but they have no 2009 in inventory. Will I be better off waiting until December-January? Any advice out there?
2010 Legacy 3.6R Limited
by idmd on Sun Aug 30 16:05:49 PDT 2009
Just bought a 2010 Legacy 3.6R Limited with Nav/Moon and XM Sat radio for $30K including destination. Seemed like a good deal as I spoke to 4 other dealers in the area and none of them would even get close to this number with the options. Most were close to MSRP and quoted the fact that there aren't all that many 3.6R Limiteds in the NE at the moment. This was actually one of the easiest, most low pressure and smooth car buying experiences I've ever had. No trying to sell me extras, no sudden unexplained fees during signing, and so the entire process was negotiated over the internet and took 35 mins including the test drive. Very happy!
Thoughts on this deal?

We have decided to get a new 09 Outback within the next 6 weeks (Toyota lease to expire in Aug). Started to contact Subaru dealers to see where we would be. Looking for a Model 9DD with no options in the New England area. MSRP - $25,790. (with PZEV - most inventory in NE has this). So far, best offer is at $21,000. plus a $225 dealer doc fee. Others (so far) are in the $22K+ range. This represents $4.79K under MSRP, . . . and about $524. under invoice + holdback. Question/Opinions: Good offer? Can I get more? Is it likely rebate will increase in Aug? - If so, care to guess how much? Fitzmall lists Outback SEs (9DD) with a slightly higher MSRP for a slightly lower internet price - how is this? How is this dealer making money with price below what we all think he/she really paid for the car? Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Guys, This thread is awesome! Thanks rdy for the suggestion for the Limited, great price but Oregon is too far for me. I finally bought my SE Manual no options and got a fantastic deal from a dealer in the NE. $19.8 + TTL. Anyone interested on the dealer name and location, just let me know. Cheers
