08 XT w/MT
by gwnorth on Mon Jan 14 11:09:25 PST 2008
Hi, I have been lurking a while here and had a quick question on pricing on an 08XT. I am interested in one with a manual transmission and have found one that is considered "pre-owned" on a dealer lot, even though an 08, and I am trying to get an idea on how close they are with pricing. On the website is lists 12 miles and for options it looks like it has the following: 6 Disc CD Changer Air Conditioning Alloy Wheels AM/FM Stereo Radio Anti-Lock Braking System Center Arm Rest Center Storage Console Child Seat System Climate Control Clock Compact Disc Player Cruise Control Cup Holders Driver Side Air Bag Driver Side Remote Mirror Dual Climate Control Fog Lights Fold Down Rear Seat Front Bucket Seats Glass Moonroof Heated Outside Mirror (s) Heated Seat Keyless Entry Luggage Rack Maintenance Free Battery Map Lights Panic Alarm Feature Passenger Side Air Bag Power Brakes Power Door Locks Power Driver's Seat Power Passenger Seat Power Socket Power Windows Premium Sound System Protective Fender Trim Protective Side Moldings Rear Arm Rest Rear Defroster Rear Power Window Rear Window Wiper Rich Leather Upholstery Security System Side Air Bag System Steering Wheel Controls Tachometer Tilt Steering Wheel Trip Odometer Vanity Mirror XM Satellite Radio They are listing it for $31,245 and I was trying to get a feel on what the true value of this car might be. This appears to be a great site and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark
Re: 05 WRX [girmann]

Mark, I currently own an '03 WRX, MT, and an '05 WRX, AT, along with a '00 OBS MT. I've regretted buying the AT right from the git-go, that's how I ended up with the '03. I found a good deal. Don't get me wrong, the AT is a good ride, but it's not a "fun" ride, IMHO. I've found the '00 OBS with the 2.2L engine easier to drive through the curves because of the even power curve available. In order to use the power of the WRX, you have to be at or near 3K RPM, which means really keeping the revs up in the turns. The '06 WRX with the 2.5 turbo and 230 HP is suppose to resolve this situation, and I was going to trade for a new WRX. And then gas went well over $3/gal for premium fuel. While there really isn't that much difference in the reported gas mileage for the NA & turbo vehicles, the turbo requires premium. In our area that's twenty cents/gal more than regular. That equates to about $2-$3 more per fill up. While this forum isn't for discussing economic issues, I can't see gas ever returning to the levels we once knew, not with the growth of auto ownership in China. I decided that the WRX is a "luxury" I can live without. The cost of insurance is another issue which has already been discussed previously. I will say that the WRX is a blast to drive, and I'm glad that I've done it. In fact, I'll probably hang on to the '03 WRX as my token "hot rod", but it wont be my daily driver. Of course this is all just one person's opinion, and I'm sure there are many more out there. But that's the beauty of this forum. Terry
Got a good price but.....
by colbster on Thu Apr 08 11:13:44 PDT 2004
Well I did all my research, and after little bit of back and forth email haggling, I got the dealer to give me a price of $21045 on an XS,MT, with an MSRP of $23865 (with dest). Not too shabby, right? Ok, I show up at the dealer, and say, "Here's my trade, now give me a good price for that" Of course I am expecting the low ball worse price. No problem. Plenty of room to negotiate. Mind you, I'm not trading a run-of-the-mill Camry or Taurus. I'm trading something that is basically a desirable vehicle. My trade was a 2001 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, immaculate, custom cap, full power, ac. New BFG's, etc. They said to me "We can't sell that truck. We'll have to wholesale it. I'm going to have to call around" They would NOT even give me a price??? What is up with that. I said "You are going to wholesale this vehicle???? Not even keep it on your lot???" They said "If you were looking to buy a truck like that, why would you come to a Subaru dealer??" This makes perfect sense, yet no sense. This is the busines they are in. I quickly spotted a 99-00 Chevy Blazer in puke gold, and asked what the deal was with that. "Well, blah, blah, blah." Now, NADA Trade-in is 15900 on my truck. Kelly is 13652 on my truck. I wasn't looking for a lot, maybe 14500. Which, when a truck like mine's dealer asking price is almost $19000 (same sources) leaves them room to make a lot of profit. I haven't heard back from them with a price yet....I'm not holding my breath.
