Re: 2008 Outback XT Limited [gf2020]

OOh, that XT 5-speed sounds great! We had to go automatic because of potential babysitters driving. The Forester is a 5 spd though and I love it. Do you live in NH or MA? I had wondered about the Manchester dealers as I'm in the Boston area, but was unsure how taxes would work. No complaints about Cityside though. Enjoy your new wheels! :)

aladwag, just saw your message. I ended up buying this vehicle for $18.8K plus sales tax from Subaru of Wakefield, MA. They were the easiest to deal with and most competitive in the greater Boston market for my needs. Hope this helps.

Stewart, Hello. While I am temporarily living in Florida, my perm home is 30 minutes outside Boston. I am not sure what town you will be living in as many people call all of Eastern MA the Boston area. I did a test drive at Clay Subaru, Norwood, MA (Providence Highway also known as Route 1); and the sales people were very pleasant no high pressure sales. Also they asked who there competition was and mentioned that Clay owned several dealers on Route 1. I also visited the Clay Hyundai and had good experience there as well. I wonder if you may be able to broker a deal if you end up buying two cars but at different Clay dealerships? Fyi Route 1 Norwood/Dedham/Westwood is called the Automile because every kind of dealership is located there (in fact it is more like 3 miles.). Be prepared for the cost of car insurance which in MA is out of this world!
Waiting on 07 LLBean outback
by gasr on Tue Oct 17 12:48:39 PDT 2006
So we purchased a new '07 ll bean outback (paid 31200 with nav, XM, remote start, floor mats and dog gate). we're really happy with the price we paid. Problem is we put down 2k on October 1st. Dealer said that his allocation was done for the month and that we would have to wait until early next month. (we're ok with that) Now its the middle of October, and the dealer is not able to get me a VIN number yet. Does anyone know if this is common or not. He said that he had never heard of a VON number (Vehicle order number). Yesterday one of the other dealers that we had spoken to about the car had called and I mentioned we were waiting on the car, and he said we could be waiting until Dec / Jan since alocations were done every 3 months and said that we should be able to get a VON number from the dealer. We're located north of Boston, MA. I have no problem waiting until early November, December is totally unacceptable. Has anyone heard of this. Is the dealer I spoke to yesterday taking me for a ride... thanks
Re: $100 over invoice on an '07 GT wagon -- fair price? [ateixeira]

The dealer claims there is only one '06 GT wagon left in the state (CA), and he can't get it. Otherwise that would be my suggestion too. On the other hand, with the lower invoice on the '07s, maybe the final price on an '06 wouldn't be that much less anyway.
$100 over invoice on an '07 GT wagon -- fair price?
by afty on Wed Aug 30 13:46:07 PDT 2006
My friend is shopping for a 2007 Legacy GT wagon, and he has been offered $100 over invoice by the Internet manager at a local Subaru dealer. He would have to order it as they don't have any in stock. Apparently there is also a $750 rebate. It seems like a good deal. Should I tell him to go for it?
