Silver Spring, MD Subaru Car Consumer Discussions

2.5i 4-door base
by rsholland on Thu Dec 20 14:09:59 PST 2007
I just spent the beeter part of today with a new Impreza 2.5i base model automatic. I had my car in for the 30K service and they (Herb Gordon Subaru in Silver Spring, MD) gave me loaner. So, I did some X-Mas shopping, and checked out the car pretty closely. A few points to note: • The car had almost as much road noise as my WRX—which was a shock! Maybe the base model has less sound dampng than Premium Package models, as my memory of the new WRX Prem/Pack was quiter than this car. • The front seats are awful. They're flat with almost no side support. Even my son's '06 Outback Sport has better seats. • Hate the rock-hard sun visors. My WRX has sun visors that are nicely padded, not so with the '08 models. This is a clear bean-counter victory. :( • I played a bit with the SportShift. It's okay, but nothing special. It needs 5 gears, not 4 gears. • As previously noted, it's much roomier than my car, which is good. Bob

Re: Price of Forester XT on the East Coast [Donluce]

Don You might check out Herb Gordon Subaru in Silver Spring MD. They're part of the MileOne dealer group, and perhaps 10 miles or so from the FitzMall White Flint Subaru dealer. There's also Stoelman Subaru in Tysons Corner, Va and Beyer Subaru in Alexandria, VA. All these dealers are on the outskirts of Washington, and just off the DC beltway (I-495). They are all well aware of FitzMall, and their pricing, and try to be very competitive with FitzMall. For addresses and directions, as well as current inventory, go to the SOA web site. There's a dealer search feature there. Select Maryland and Virginia. Another thing you might want to do is to call each of these dealers and ask to speak to the Sales Manager and/or Internet Sales Manager. Explain to them that you're flying in from CA (so they know you're really serious about a car purchase), and maybe they'll go further out of their way to sweeten the deal. Whatever deal you strike over the phone, get them to fax over something, so that you have some sort of proof in hand when you actually go and "do the deal." Good luck! Bob
Fitzmall price
by gotb on Tue Sep 21 09:11:05 PDT 2004
I agree Fitzmall has good prices but you can find cheaper price. For instance, Herb Gordon Nissan in Silver Spring, MD sells $500-$1000 cheaper than Fitzmall internet price. Check out their internet department. Herb Gordon Nissan's internet price includes freight and you only need to add tax, tag and $99 doc fee like Fitzmall does(doc fee used to be $25 when I bought my car). I bought my Sentra from Herb Gordon Nissan about $1000 cheaper than Fitzmall in June, 2003. However, I'm looking for a 2004 or 2005 Subaru Forester X and I can't find any dealer that has a better quote than Fitzmall.
2005 Subaru Outback XT Ltd.
by moutback on Sun Jul 25 21:47:11 PDT 2004
I purchased a 2005 Outback XT Ltd. in Obsidian Black Pearl with the popular equipment option (auto-dimming mirror w/compass, security system perimeter alarm), all-weather floor maps, and side cargo nets for $30,571 (invoice $30,371) at Herb Gordon Subaru in Silver Spring, MD. It's probably not the best deal since some dealers in MD (e.g., Fitzgerald) may be offering 2005s at or just under invoice, but Herb Gordon had the only black Outback XT Ltd. in my area. I traded in my 2000 Outback (w/43,000 miles) for $9,475, which was a little less than what I had hoped to receive, but was fair considering the price of my new Outback. I also was fortunate enough to get free scheduled maintenance via coupons from Subaru of America, although I had to call SoA to get them (the dealer did not know about this). Good luck to everyone shopping for a Subaru.
