I don't think residents in NY and New England area can get a price close to other areas. (1) PZEV partial zero emission vehicle $300, is required on 4 cylinders in CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA (2) If you check truecar, you will find a $1300 regional Ad fee which is not applied to IL, DE, or other southern states. $1600 extra on your sticker price compared with same trim in other areas.

Got my Outback today by fishshtick on Sat Jul 23 22:59:23 PDT 2011

Picked up our base 2.5i today in Bangor, ME. Had a great experience, in part because my dad is friends with a dealer in NH who quoted me essentially invoice at $23890 out the door. I took my wife to test drive here in Bangor and when she finished I told the guy about our other quote and he didn't even hesitate, because he knew the NH dealer. Indeed, he got us a deal at $23640 plus tax out the door (we would have had to pay tax in Maine, even if we bought in NH). That's a couple hundred undred invoice (maybe more if you take into account that NE invoices tend to be higher than Edmunds listing, and about $400 under TMV. We also got the 2.9% interest rate, with out fees through Subaru/Chase, which is very competitive relative to local CUs and banks (all running around 4-5%). I have never recommended a car salesman before, but if you are in the Bangor area, I really recommend you track down Lou Martin at Quirk's Subaru. It really was a no hassel process, and I bet the experience would be similar for others who show up with some numbers to work with. If you go into the place to buy a car cold...well...I couldn't really say.

It is the only one coming in that's a 3.6 in the color I want, so I said ok to the remote start, I can certainly understand that sentiment! But like I said, I wonder if they put the auto start on to pad the ticket? It comes with the auto-dimming mirror with compass. I will have them switch it out for the Homelink. If anyone needs a brand new auto-dimming mirror, will be glad to sell one to you. Hmmm, I don't think you actually get the basic one back. Maybe if you ordered it and itstalled it yourself. But where I live that mod is done at the Denver distribution center. But I gotta have my Homelink. ME TOO. I consider that one of the best things automotive in the last 10 years. Although for some reason my wife just doesn't have 100% faith in it (we've never had a problem) so she keeps a clicker on the pax side of her car

Re: $369 Month for Outback Premium; no Money Down [petergriffin] by my1stscoobydoo on Tue Feb 23 06:58:19 PST 2010

I negotiated the price of the car separately. I negotiated the trade AFTER we reached the price on the car. So in essence, its just as if I negotiated the price of the car THEN put cash down. You have to leave the trade out of the deal until you agree on a price, thats exactly what we did. Then I spent 3 days fighting with them on the value of my trade because they WANTED to hose me on my trade. I'm not stupid enough to walk into a dealer and tell them right up front that I'm trading a car. THAT IS THE #1 DUMBEST THING YOU COULD EVER DO IN A CAR DEAL. I loved it when people offered me their trades on a silver platter like that. That is how you get screwed which is what you are trying to say happened to me, not the case. Like I said before, If I mislead anyone by not including enough detail in my post then I apologize. I'll break it down for in another way. MSRP was $26,790. Invoice was $25,610, then hold back is $768 so the net cost on the car is $24842. I paid $24,900. We went back and forth for 2 days before we agreed on that price. THEN I pulled the trade out and we fought hard about that for a few days. They really wanted to give only $2K for the trade to try and make up for the new car price, but in the end, I got what wanted. They used the equity in the trade for all the up front fees (just like cash), then the remaining equity went as cash down on the lease to reduce the payment (just like cash). IF I HAD NOT USED THE EQUITY FOR ADDITIONAL CASH DOWN, THEY WOULD HAVE CUT ME A CHECK BACK. We did it all the time when I was in the biz. Someone would trade a $10K car on a lease but only want to put $2k down, we'd cut them a check for the $8K no problem. Does this make any more sense now? Because if it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you other than I'd love to sell you a car. I guess selling 100's of cars as a former sales manger still doesn't qualify me to understand how to BUY a car does it? But what do I know right? you guys know it all. Its a shame that so much critical communication gets lost when people communicate via email, forums blogs etc. This never would have happened if we had spoken in person. Next... :P

Re: 2010 2.5i limited Outback total Price(of a Recent Lease or Buying)... [ by robertwarrior on Tue Nov 17 20:48:36 PST 2009

Exactly..! Stoopy's e-mail instant/"10 quick quotes requests" idea never worked for me either...still waiting for their response..:-/ :) Had to find my self "reputable" dealers and contact directly their sales/"Internet Managers". Also a lot of them "internet managers" do not like to give numbers via phone or "e-mails"...:-/. Cause they like to play their games/lies at the dealer (easier for them to BS you). Only the one I contacted personally before i started this CarSpace posting (last week) was a little straight with me & did not ask me "to come down to their stupid dealer & waste my time and show, sign papers. To me all this basterds do not want to come down really much with their prices, so that the payments are low or at least reasonable for their customers( they even try their "price lies" with me it didn't matter that I have good credit..:-/). Even when you come down to their dealers the "actual e-mail" numbers change a lots of times. Sorry Sweetsoul i really do not want to ruin your party but TO ME..; If you really research online the same car with your options (they are not really expensive options) I still think you didn't get such a good deal. I'm sorry but i'm just been honest. Not bad deal but just Ok for me. I think they could have done better for you and even me cause i call them(Rafferty) & he tried to justified the 2.5 limited no options for $30,000..! I'm getting a little tired of this & right now considering just to re-lease another(we do like it and enjoy the long trips on it. It's very comfortable) pathfinder(2010) cause even though the price it's higher than the "outback" (~33,000) the lease payments(nissan credit offered same low payments we have now :)) are much lower than the smaller Outback. Oh and they offer to waive the last 3 lease payments on my present Pathfinder cause of their "loyal customer offer".
