Buying a car from a Subaru Car Dealer

IL Subaru Car Consumer Discussions

Re: Subaru Forester 2.5X Limited w/Nav [ateixeira] by max_anderson on Fri Aug 26 13:52:55 PDT 2011

Agreed. Big surprise that after I called their dealership and spoke to the sales manager, they claimed a "mistake" was made and have since come down to about $450. I've known a lot of decent salespeople in my time, but there are always those ones that help give the industry a bad name.

Subaru Forester 2.5X Limited w/Nav by max_anderson on Fri Aug 26 09:33:00 PDT 2011

Hi Car Man, My father went into a local Subaru dealership with the intention of leasing a 2011 Forester (detailed in subject line). He wanted a 3 year/12K lease with taxes "rolled in." The tax rate in suburban Cook County IL is 9.5%. They quoted him $550 per month. He's an older gentlemen so I thought I'd do a little digging to see how they arrived at that number. I can't seem to get there. Even assuming they based the lease off of full MSRP, it still doesn't make sense. I asked them what the August money factor residual is and was told 53% and .00140. I plugged those numbers in with the MSRP of $29,945 and I still got an estimated lease payment of about $450 (which includes tax). Can you confirm August MF and residual on the Forester 2.5X Limited w/Nav for a 36-month, 12K lease? I know everyone's in business to make money but I kind of feel like this salesperson my Dad met with was exploiting the fact that he was elderly and new to leasing. I was wondering your thoughts on this.

The price is from Autobarn Subaru of Countryside in Countryside, IL, a southwest Chicago suburb. I worked with the internet sales guy on the deal.

I didn't realize until recently that MF varied by state. I am looking in IL, in the Chicago area. Does anyone have information on the MF and RV for a 210 Forester XT premium w/ navigation? Thanks.

Outback Premium in Chicago Land area by bob_b1 on Sun Oct 18 08:04:18 PDT 2009

Hello, I have realized that in the entire IL there is not a single dealer that carries Outback Premiums without All Weather Package (looking with CVT trans). Originally I looked at the Outback basic model and the best price I got was $22680 (24600). But when I wanted to go step up realized all cars come with a lot of extras that I did not want and were costing me extra. the best quote I got on Outback 2.5i Premium w/All-Weather Pkg was 25300 msrp ($26900). What are your experience and what were the best quotes you got or price that you paid?
