Re: 2008 vs 2009 Forester - Help! [dcwestby]
by sgloon on Thu May 08 13:22:58 PDT 2008
Thanks, dcwestby. The long drives were exactly what I was worried about. Are the 09 seats that much better for the long drives? I agree on the gas, but haven't been able to find a Manual Transmission vehicle with top carrying and cargo capacity I need that gets any good gas mileage. The 08 Forester was my compromise vehicle. The next closest was the Matrix/Vibe option. I had to rule that out as I can't get Thule racks on it (not for 6 months per Thule). And then the insurance cost for the Matrix/Vibe was going to be $300 more per year than the Forester.. If you have any suggestions for other options to look at (the Subaru is maxing me out on price) I'd love to hear it.

I've owned a 08 forester in the past and I will say this about it. Its a great car, except perhaps where long trips are concerned. The seats, even with a pillow on them, get a bit hard on the back/tailbone after a couple hours of sitting. Also, imo, they should have put a 5 spd auto in the 09 instead of keeping the 4 speed. Look at all the options besides the forester. If you research extensively, you will be more knowledgable then the sales person on any car you look at. mpg is extremely important these days. Keep that in mind too. Keep a future with $5/gal gas in mind...
Updated Offer

I have now gotten the selling price down to $21,700 but without the gas card. Those are the only differences. I've been negotiating only on selling price and so using the Edmunds payment calculator, it turns out to be $293. How is it looking? car_man?
2008 Tribeca Lease question
by jetfan on Tue May 06 09:35:35 PDT 2008
Not much traffic here. Not sure if it is just gas prices keeping people away from these cars. Anyway, can someone please let me know the current lease deals & terms for a 7 pass Tribeca. Looking to do a 3yr lease 12K a year. I am in NJ. Test drove the car & got some numbers back in April. Pretty sure they had a $2500 rebate. Looking to get the Limited with 3rd row & DVD. Is invoice a good staring point or will they go lower?
2008 2.5i Limited Lease Offer
by grandmasteryan on Mon May 05 21:22:15 PDT 2008
I have a current offer and I was wondering what some of you thought. It's for a 2008 2.5i Limited (non-GT) with VDC (standard now?). The agreements are: 12k mi No down (absolutely 0) Money factor is 0.0012 Residual Value is $17,204 Selling price is $22,347 With a $500 gas card With these figures the monthly payments would be $325 which is a bit high, but this is with 0 down. Good deal?

The day I pay for a tank of gas in a new car is the day I don't buy a new car. Hell, my Ody was 3/4 and I made them go fill it up. Cheap b***tards. (Dealers).
