Picked up my new 2010 OB 2.5i Limited tonight!
by sweetsoul on Wed Nov 11 18:52:05 PST 2009
Just picked up my new OB tonight. I ordered it 3 weeks ago and it came in well ahead of the original 6-8 week lead time thanks to my dealer. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience at my dealer, Rafferty Subaru in Newtown Square, PA. :) It seriously has been the best car buying experience to date. Here are the details: 2010 OB 2.5i Limited in Azurite Blue w/ Auto-dimming mirror w/compass Sirius satellite radio Media hub (for ipod) Wheel arch moldings Rear bumper cover Splash guards Interior illumination kit PZEV Zero Emissions Total MSRP: $30,638 (includes $695 destination charge) Paid Invoice (VIP Pricing): $28,659 Added 6 year, 100k mile Gold Plus Warranty: $1500 Trade-In 2005 Xterra (high miles): $8100 PA Sales Tax: $1323.54 Registration: $48.50 Doc Fee: $100 Total Sale Price: $23,532.04 (trade already factored in this amount) Paid cash for part of it, financed $12,500 @ 3.9% for 60 months = $230/mo. I was literally in the dealer for maybe 40 minutes total tonight to complete the paperwork, etc. It was a smooth transaction, no gimmicks, no games...the way car buying should be! If you are in the NJ, NY, MD, DE, PA or even farther out... I highly recommend this dealer. Ask for "Skip" or Kevin - tell them Noelle sent you. I'll post more in a week or so to let you know how much I am loving my new OB . I already got the bluetooth set up (super easy) and love the media hub, just so nice to listen to my ipod through the fabulous stereo! The ride home was great even in the cold rain :D

Invoice, including $665 destination, on a PZEV Forester Limited is $25,231. Like mguillen said, the all-weather package (heated seats, mirrors, front wiper de-icer) is standard. Cargo tray is also standard on Limited. Popular Equipment Group 4-A adds auto-dim mirror/compass and puddle lights for $268 invoice. Body side moldings are $155 invoice, all-weather floor mats are $39 invoice, cargo cover is $108 invoice, and rear bumper cover is $51 invoice. Can't find a price for the bumper corner moldings, but I'd expect $40-$100. Grand total (without the bumper corner moldings) would be $25,852 invoice, if my math's right. Some of those features are also available in packages that include other things not on your list, like splash guards, hood deflector, wheel arch moldings. Not sure how it compares to Edmunds' information, but you can also find a pretty good breakdown of option packages and individual options (including invoice & MSRP pricing) here: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forester/forester2009.html#option%20packages I'd also note that if you order a Forester rather than taking one from the lot, you could see a 10-12 week wait, so it may be worth it to take something off of the lot that has a similar group of options and add whatever is missing (if anything) from your list of desired options. If it were me, I'd pay (for example) an extra $70 for splashguards and cargo nets I didn't want rather than wait 2-3 months, but I'm sure everyone's got a different level of patience.

Sub_lisa, the cold weather package (heated seats, mirrors, wiper de-icer) is included on the Limited, you don't have to add it.

Thank you everyone for all of your responses/tips/advice! I really appreciate all the advice. I see that there is a lot of reference to dealer invoice. Where would I be able to get the dealer invoice price for a forester? How do I find out what the dealer invoice price is for the car and the extras. I'd like to get the 09 Forester 2.5X Limited(no Turbo), steel silver metallic, bumper corner molding kit, body side molding kit, all weather floor mats, rear bumper cover, cargo tray, EC mirror compass, luggage compartment cover, and puddle light kit. I'd like to add heated front seats, heated mirror, and the windshield wiper de-icer. What is the pzez engine? Now, I'm a lot less nervous about buying a car....thanks to all your advice. You guys give me a lot more confidence!
current Impreza GTP program

Hi all, I've been practically spammed with GTP information for 2 months now.. and finally, I'm interested. I ignored it for some time, but now that I am running out of warranty time, and have made many trips to the service dept already, I am very drawn to the idea of getting hugely overpaid on my trade :) . And when I got my Outback Sport, I was in a tough place, and really just wanted a car that would run. I didn't have much time to shop, and I didnt want to pay much. Times have changed, and I am very ready for an upgrade - like heated seats and wiper de-icers! SOA is offering about $16,700 for my 06 OBS SE - pretty amazing considering KBB says its worth under $12k. Since I like free money - and would love a new car, it seems perfect. Sadly, I don't really see a car I want. I want a sport wagon with some perks - so the WRX 5-door is the closest fit.. but at $28k (premium package), its really hard to swallow the new model's looks. Ideally I want a Legacy GT. Or heck, even a Legacy 2.5i Limited wagon - but they of course killed the wagon for '08 :( . I don't want to pass up on the GTP deal, but I don't want to settle for a car I only feel so-so about. Grrr! Anyway, that's my dilemma. pete

Spoke with the dealer. He says the $1500 only applies to X model, not X model with Premium Package. The $2,000 off the Premium Package is directly on the Subaru website. It includes : Premium Package (Optional $1,500) * 8-way power adjustable driver's seat * Dual-stage heated front seats * Panoramic power sliding-glass moonroof with auto-open/close feature * SIRIUS™ Satellite Radio capability * Auxiliary audio jack for portable media players * 120-watt 4-speaker audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3/WMA player in dash and four upgraded speakers * Automatic climate control system with CFC-free air conditioning, air filtration system, rotary controls for temperature, 7-speed fan and airflow direction * Perforated leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel with manually adjustable tilt column * Perforated leather-wrapped shifter handle and parking-brake handle * 4-wheel disc, ventilated front brakes * 16 x 6.5-inch 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels * Larger body-color painted side mirrors with integrated turn signals * Body-color painted door handles * Heated side mirrors and windshield wipers de-icer Well worth $1,500.00 to me. He threw in $500 rebate which I was not entitled to. Buying a silver X this week. :)
