current Impreza GTP program

Hi all, I've been practically spammed with GTP information for 2 months now.. and finally, I'm interested. I ignored it for some time, but now that I am running out of warranty time, and have made many trips to the service dept already, I am very drawn to the idea of getting hugely overpaid on my trade :) . And when I got my Outback Sport, I was in a tough place, and really just wanted a car that would run. I didn't have much time to shop, and I didnt want to pay much. Times have changed, and I am very ready for an upgrade - like heated seats and wiper de-icers! SOA is offering about $16,700 for my 06 OBS SE - pretty amazing considering KBB says its worth under $12k. Since I like free money - and would love a new car, it seems perfect. Sadly, I don't really see a car I want. I want a sport wagon with some perks - so the WRX 5-door is the closest fit.. but at $28k (premium package), its really hard to swallow the new model's looks. Ideally I want a Legacy GT. Or heck, even a Legacy 2.5i Limited wagon - but they of course killed the wagon for '08 :( . I don't want to pass up on the GTP deal, but I don't want to settle for a car I only feel so-so about. Grrr! Anyway, that's my dilemma. pete

Spoke with the dealer. He says the $1500 only applies to X model, not X model with Premium Package. The $2,000 off the Premium Package is directly on the Subaru website. It includes : Premium Package (Optional $1,500) * 8-way power adjustable driver's seat * Dual-stage heated front seats * Panoramic power sliding-glass moonroof with auto-open/close feature * SIRIUS™ Satellite Radio capability * Auxiliary audio jack for portable media players * 120-watt 4-speaker audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3/WMA player in dash and four upgraded speakers * Automatic climate control system with CFC-free air conditioning, air filtration system, rotary controls for temperature, 7-speed fan and airflow direction * Perforated leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel with manually adjustable tilt column * Perforated leather-wrapped shifter handle and parking-brake handle * 4-wheel disc, ventilated front brakes * 16 x 6.5-inch 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels * Larger body-color painted side mirrors with integrated turn signals * Body-color painted door handles * Heated side mirrors and windshield wipers de-icer Well worth $1,500.00 to me. He threw in $500 rebate which I was not entitled to. Buying a silver X this week. :)

You must consider the depreciation of all cars. Yes, a 2007, as opposed to a 2006, will be worth more, 3-5-7 years down the line, when you trade it in, or sell it. Will the extra value that a 2007 will bring you down the road, be equal to the amount you pay now for it? No. But it will be close. All things considered, this late in the model year (2008's come out next June) I would personally buy the 2007. The Preimum Package, which includes the following, does increase the value, overall, as it includes items shown to be wanted by many car buyers. And it makes it nicer for you. ;) : Premium Package: Panoramic power sliding-glass moonroof with auto-open/close feature 8-way power adjustable driver's seat with manually adjustable lumbar support Dual-stage heated front seats Automatic climate control system SIRIUS™ satellite radio capability 120-watt 4-speaker audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3/WMA player Auxiliary audio jack for portable media players Perforated leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, shifter handle and parking-brake handle 4-wheel disc, ventilated front brakes Viscous-type limited-slip rear differential 16-inch 8-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels Heated larger body-color side mirrors with integrated turn signals Windshield wipers de-icer Body-color painted door handles It will run you about $1500-$2000 over the base cost (depending on the dealer and incentives), and at the very least, will fetch you that much more when selling/trading it. Look for some great deals in the next month, as the Christmas Holiday deals roll out! ;)

I think you're comparing two different models. Since the splash guards are listed as an option on the '07, it's most likely a 2.5i "Basic" Outback, with a cost nearly $1500 lower than the "standard" 2.5i with it's extra features, including: TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring 17" alloy wheels Limited Slip rear axle Cargo area power outlet Power driver's seat, 8 way Roof rails with cross bars Rear cargo cover, with a gate attachment All Weather Package: Heated front seats, Power heated mirrors, and front wiper de-icer. and...Splash Guards

You're right, I'm in DE (2.5%) and you get a full credit of the NADA value for a trade-in or total loss vehicle. So my tax came to $46.

Invoice is $25,300, minus $1500 rebate is $23,800, so they're offering about... $1200 below invoice before the rebate is applied! Today is the last day of the current incentives, so there's no way of knowing if the rebates will go up, down or stay the same, but that's a great deal either way and I doubt you could do better by waiting or going anywhere else. I'd jump on it while it's still in stock, if you like the car. Here's what you're adding by going with the Limited instead of the SE: Dual Zone climate control. 6 disc CD changer in dash. Leather interior, steering wheel, parking brake handle and shift knob (leather instead of cloth would be a big bonus if you get the light taupe interior - easier cleanup). All Weather package with heated seats, defrosting outside mirrors, front windshield wiper de-icer. Determine if those options are worth the $1600 price increase over the SE to you, and if they are, go for it - they're making you a great offer.
