Buying a car from a Subaru Car Dealer
We are being quoted $23,530 (not including $390 dealer handling fee and state taxes) for a 2012 Forester 2.5X Premium automatic with the following options: - All-Weather Package (Heated Front Seats, Windshield Wiper De-Icer, Heated Side Mirrors) - Aero Cross Bars - Rear Bumper Cover - Luggage Compartment Cover - Splash Guard Kit - Floor Mats, All Weather - Auto Dim Mirror/Compass w/Homelink Does that seem like a reasonable price? We don't need to get the best deal ever, but don't want to pay hundreds more than we should. The dealer seems unwilling to come down further. By way of comparison, Truecar.com says $23,069 is the best deal in our area for the Premium with all-weather package (that's the only one of these extras we're really interested in). The dealer says they could special-order one with only the all-weather package and match that price, but it could take 10+ weeks to deliver.
I don't think residents in NY and New England area can get a price close to other areas. (1) PZEV partial zero emission vehicle $300, is required on 4 cylinders in CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA (2) If you check truecar, you will find a $1300 regional Ad fee which is not applied to IL, DE, or other southern states. $1600 extra on your sticker price compared with same trim in other areas.
He doesn't need to fly to IL. He can find similar deal in DE. NY and new England area should boycott OB for that additional $1300 regional Ad fee.
Thanks Car_man, I was able to pull the trigger on a 2011 Suabaru Legacy Automatic CVT Transmission 2.5i Premium with the All-Weather Package for 12,000 miles/year for 36 months with no money down. The All Weather package gave me, Heated Front Seats, Winshield Wiper De-Icer, Heated Side Mirrors. They gave me a 59% Residual Rate, and a .00065 Money Factor. Please let me know if I made a good deal. Here are the lease deals: $23,900 MSRP $23,000 selling price $695.00 Acquisition fee ---------------------- $23,695.00- adjusted total -$14,101.00- 59% residual ---------------------- $9,594.00- figure used to calculate part one of the lease + $75.00- Dlr. reg fee + $75.00- to transfer plates + $10.00- inspection fee + $12.50- NYS tire tax ----------------------- $9,766.50-- Total - $0.00-- cap reduction ----------------------- $9,766.50 divided by 36 = $271.29 Principle part of lease $23,695 + $14,101= $37,796 $37,796- # used to calculate interest charge * .00065 Money Factor -------------- $24.57- interest factor + $271.29 - Principal + $21.30 - Tax 7.2% ----------------- $ 317.16- monthly payment for 35 months Plus they are getting me out of my current Subaru lease, which had three monthly payments left, waived the disposition fee of $500, and waived my first monthly payment of $317.16 since I am a Subaru Motor Finance loyal customer. Is this deal fair?
