Re: Reasonable price for 210 Outback [ncdude]
by bob_b1 on Fri Oct 30 05:59:23 PDT 2009
You should be getting at least 8% off since it is the end of the month and almost end of the year. On a msrp of $29377 if you were in Chicago land area today you would pay around $27 000 This is $500 less than the quote you got. I had a chance to met and talk to a lot of people that eater bought or are looking for new Outback. This all happened over the last month. One guy was a sales manager in Bolder Co Subaru dealer now works here. They all concluded the magic number on Subaru Outback should be anywhere between 8% to 10% off the msrp. Right now some of the dealers are hipping up the prices but if you do not get the price I mention, wait or talk to other dealers. Some of the dealers are still not fully stocked, so they are using temporary shortage in their advantage. It will take another moth to be fully stocked and prices will adjust to the numbers mentioned.

Took the plunge; missing the cargo tray
by overhear on Mon Oct 12 11:44:53 PDT 2009
We finally bought a Subaru Forester Premium PZEV. I thought the pricing situation might interest others. The deal was just about as good as I could get altho I'm not sure it's bargain. I called every dealer in Westchester Co (NY) where we live and couldn't get anyone to sell the car below $25,700, which is about $300 under the sticker price of $26,000. Apparently Subaru had banner sales in September and inventories are very low in the northeast. (I thought I'd found the car in NJ for $24,100, but it was missing the all-weather package and turned out to be a manual.) Finally, after checking the inventory of every dealer in NY state I found one within reasonable distance that had the right color (paprika red), all-weather package, and 2 additional options (cargo tray and mirror compass) in a demo car with 1,400 miles on it. We negotiated a price of $24,256, plus tax and tags. That was all great, altho when the car came home last Friday we did hit a minor snag: My husband had not noticed that the cargo tray was missing. I emailed the dealer immediately (Friday) and heard back today (Monday) that (contrary to my original conversation with the dealer and to the online inventory page which is still on the web) that the tray is "not included with this model." Hopefully we'll resolve this last bit peacefully, and without a 2nd drive upstate. Thanks to everyone for assistance with the decision!
prices of 09 Outbacks which have been in fleets?
by ofionnachta on Tue Sep 22 16:21:46 PDT 2009
Well, we are late to the OB bandwagon, having had a summer we didn't get around to looking for cars, and the only Caravan not eligible for C4C. Does anyone know what is a *fair* price for used 09 2.5i Specials, autom tran, ranging from 6-13 k miles? Kelley BB has them listed abt that price; but I see from yuor June-July postings buyers were getting the 2.5is (not specials) new for 18-19k. The ones I've found on the net in our area (Bucks Co PA & Trenton NJ) all appear after Carfax check to have been in rental fleets near airports. Thanks for any help!

I had the same dilemma last year on my 2009 Forester. I ultimately went with the turbo after test driving it...so much more power. However, I live in CO and turbo really is needed for mountain driving. No regrets with buying the turbo, but there is more than the price differential at the dealership to consider. You have to reconcile the $.25 per gallon for premium and a lower MPG (however, if you drive conservatively, there's not that much of a difference). My opinion is...if money is not that much of an issue, and you need passing power, go with the turbo. Especially if you can get your deposit back, which you should be able to. On purchase price, I would recommend you go to the Heuberger Motors web site and if you can get close to their price it's probably a good deal. They consistently have low prices (believe me, I researched this endlessly) since they are a volume dealer trying to sell the most cars in the region. Good luck on your decision!!
Another SoCal WRX purchase
by holisticnurse on Sun Aug 30 22:11:57 PDT 2009
We went to Bob Baker (8-26) in Carlsbad for a base WRX sedan, and after shopping around & talking to 6 dealerships seriously, the best deal I could get was 22618 (with iPod/cargo tray/auto dimming mirror w/compass) before TT&L. We also did the 0% and no trade. Wasn't that excited about our salesman-the fellow I dealt with 99% of the time left just after we arrived to test drive & the co-salesman was kind of shifty. When it came time to do the deal, #2 tried to weasel out of what I had already negotiated with salesman #1. Although I did absolutely insist on a specific color (blue) and I'm sure if I would've been more flexible on the color I would've gotten a better deal. We also got a bunch of aftermarket parts (ie: exhaust, fog light package, grille/body side molding, amp/sub, etc) and the prices they charged were significantly different than those listed on Edmunds & CarsDirect. The salesman showed me their price list so I know I wasn't getting hosed. That might be more helpful to have a more accurate price list available. We love the car & are very happy with our decision. We're still awaiting our complete install of aftermarket parts which should take another 1-2 weeks. Cheers~
