Buying a car from a Subaru Car Dealer
I'm shopping in Denver, CO and got a quote of $24,990 on a 2012 Outback 2.5i Premium, CRV, with the All-weather Package and the "Popular Package 1B" (auto dimming mirror w/ home link, floor mats, splash guards and bumper cover). That price does not include a dealer handling fee of $389 (average in the Denver area appears to be $500) or taxes/title. Does this sound like a decent deal?
I just leased a 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium on May 16th and I wanted to share my experience along with the lease calculation: Silver Steel Metallic/Black Cloth MSRP $21,295 Option Package 2 $500 All-Weather Package Heated Front Seats, Windshield Wiper De-Icer, Heated Side Mirrors Lineartronic CVT Transmission $1,000 Auto-Dim Mirror/Compass/Homelink $271 Partial Zero Emission (Pzev) $0 Destination and Delivery $725 Total Suggested Retail Price $23,791 PRICING MSRP - $23,791 Gross Cap Cost ***Agreed upon value of vehicle***- $21,640.86 Adjusted Cap Cost ***(Selling Price)*** - $22,734.86 ($21,640.86 + Acquisition Fee $595 and Dealer Handling Fee $499) LEASE (36 months 12,000 miles/yr) *($0 down, first month payment due at signing $299)* May Money Factor - 0.00115 Residual Lease End Value (12,000 miles/yr) - 60% or $23,791 x .60= $14,274.60 Lease Calculation: $22,734.86 - $14,274.60 = $8,460.26/36 months = $235.01 $22,734.86 + $14,274.60= $37,009.46 x 0.00115 = $42.56 Payment = $277.57 Tax (Denver, CO 7.72%) = $21.43 Total Monthly Payment = $299 per month (35 months) I hope this information is helpful...good luck!
Great information here. Complete novice to leasing and so LUCKY to have come across this. How is this lease: CO - Denver Metro area, 2011 Outback 2.5i Premium - CVT, All Weather Pkg, Pzev, Bumper/splashguard pkg. Invoice around 27k. 3k down, 36 mo @ 12k miles, buy option fixed at 15k - $305/mo? And, what are the current money factor and residuals? Thanks a lot.
biancar wrote; "Even dealers with as many as 15 OBs will typically have only 1 or 2 Ltds, often in a color I don't like." Well, dealers, and manufacturers are in business to maximize profits. Which they do by stocking what sells (or, what they think will sell based on historical data) so they can satisfy customer demand quickly and turn their inventory. Looking at the "dealer inventory" tab on subaru usa's website I agree with your note about not stocking many Limiteds, but I guess they know their market. I was luck that I live in CO (probably number 1 Subie market in the US) and there is a depot or distribution center in Denver. Even though I initially liked the metallic gray color I decided against it for two reasons; I wanted the lighter interior and a salesman at one store told me it is the NUMBER ONE selling color on the Legacy. Heck, if I wanted to drive what EVERYONE else is driving I wouldn't have been in a subaru dealership. And yes, if you order any of the "accessories" from the dealer they become part of the total car and are covered by the warranty. easypar
Sorry I haven't been online lately. Been busy with school stuff. I've gotten half way through the nasioc engine thread. I agree, no model of car will be perfectly built and there will be issues with all of them, to different degrees. I'm looking to lease for 3 years, which is the length of the warranty, so I feel comfortable with still getting one anyway. I love my current Impreza and want to stay with Subaru. I've finally moved up to talking to dealerships in the Denver metro area. Heuberger in CO Springs keeps bragging they are the #1 dealer in the nation and so far they are quoting me $26,415 for an 09 WRX premium manual sedan. Not sure if I'm going for the premium or not, but figured I'll start with the worst case scenario and work my way down. I'm hoping within the next few weeks to talk to more dealers and see what's possible.
