2005 Outback 2.5i Wagon: by ruready4me on Fri Jun 11 17:17:28 PDT 2004; In the market for a vehicle after 6 years of driving 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I want inexpensive (20-25k) with features. I'm in AZ, I just test drove the 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5i, the basic model in the silver metallic/ granite gray opal, an automatic with a few other add ons like floor mats and cargo net. The dealer listed retail as $25,895. I supposedly was given a deal of $24,565, "only $500" over their invoice price. I'm not one to buy on the spot, so I've come home to research and think on it. After looking at vehicles for a week, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry, and Jeep Liberty, I'm only impressed with the Outback. It's in the same price range as the others, but feels and looks better. So do you think $24,565 is a good deal?

Dealt with Mike in the internet/fleet department at Pitre Subaru in Scottsdale (Tucson only had '04's and weren't dealing and I couldn't get under $20,000 on the phone to Phoenix). Two emails, two phone calls, and one great experience. Paperwork was done and we were at the dealership for 30 minutes. Sounds like I could have done better elsewhere (like Portland), but I love the car!
