New xB owner
by dave594 on Wed May 14 18:40:31 PDT 2008
We picked up our Blackberry xB today. Got it for $15,497 (plus TTL, sales tax, and processing) for the manual tranny version. Have to put in a good word for Fitzgerald Scion in Gaithersburg, MD. Their Pure Price was $800 lower the the dealers in my neck of the woods in VA, and MD dealers can't charge the outrageous processing fees the dealers here want. The xB has everything we wanted, and is almost $4-5k cheaper than a comparably equipped Matrix.
Leasing Options

I would like to lease an xB for 36 months, probably with 15K miles per year. What have your experiences been with residual values and how options affect the residual value. Also what type of bank rates have you been able to get. TFS is not an authorized lender in NC, so I can't go through them.

I have driven a lot of miles since it was new, although I still refer to it as "new". I just put on 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks size 185 60 15. The Box really drives great in the snow the the Blizzaks. It snowed here in eastern WV/Northern Va. last week and I was dying to try them out. They gripped well and I outran many other 4x4's and fwd cars. The combo of the snows and the traction control made for a safe drive in 6" of snow. I recommend them if you have to drive in winter weather.
xB pricing, options, possible resonation at 3500 rpm?
by cocteau3 on Sun Sep 11 12:25:43 PDT 2005
Hi, I"ve had trouble accessing the Scion website for info on options, pricing, etc. since i don't have the latest bells and whistles computer system . . . long story short, I've been shopping for an xB. I agree with all the positive aspects mentioned on this wonderful forum. I'm 6'2" and have long been uncomfortable in normal sedan cars. The xB is immediately spacious and safe (good visibility). My experience shopping has been that there is a no haggle price policy. However, when I recently stopped at a dealer in Charlottesville, VA to test a 2004 used xB with 13K miles, their sticker was upwards of 15, 688 and mentioned "cruise control". First, the dealer said the price was a starting point. I remined him I could go and buy a 2006 for less. Second, is cruise control an option on the automatic drive xB? I test drove a 2005 xB with 35 miles on it at the same dealer, and it seemed to have a resonation or vibration in the engine/transmission at around 3500 rpms. Has anyone else noticed/experienced this? The 2004 I drove did not have it. Also, I heard a recommended option is an "additional" stabilizer bar for the front end? I thought the xB comes already with torsion/stabilizer bars both front and rear . . . Do the seats remove in the xB? Or do they just fold down for more cargo? I'm replacing my Ford E-150 van with a Scion, aware that there will be only so much room, but the xB can haul some large objects. Concerning prices, I ran a Consumer Reports actual dealer cost report on the 2006 xB. It says the Invoice Price is the same as Wholesale Price. On the automatic, for example, MSRP is 15,195, Invoice/Wholesale is 14,460. So they have about $735.00 to "play with", yet I suspect no dealer will split the difference. Destination charge is $515 and included in the above pricing. I will walk from any dealer who adds additional delivery, or processing fees. Anyone have a roof rack on their xB? I thought that was an option too. Thanks for the help!!! ;)

I just picked up my 2006 tC Auto from Tysons Toyota (VA). It took 3 weeks for my order to arrive. Worth the wait with one mile on Odometer. With no other tC for sale on the lot, a few customers surrounded my car. My rep had to shoo them away :P If it was up to me I would keep the supply low ;) I paid the scion.com price 17,515 + 289 (posted processing/doc fee) + tax (3% in VA) + dmv tags I also got mudguards, applique, mats, cargo liner/net, side sill, floor light. They charged a few bucks more than scion.com to install the accessories. Prices were posted in the Scion booth and dealer website. The 289 processing fee seemed reasonable given the great service I got. My sales rep was the best No-haggle atmosphere was a priority for me and I enjoyed it. Keep in mind if you order accessories they may run out or outsource installation. I had to go back to the dealer twice for installation
Great scion tc buying experience -- twice
by cullens on Mon Aug 08 10:36:48 PDT 2005
I bought a 2005 tc (flint mica/auto trans) from McGeorge Scion in Richmond, VA in January. Pricing was exactly what the website promised, the salesman was super-informed, and delivery came in a couple weeks ahead of when promised because another car came free. I couldn't have been happier and the next six months only confirmed me in my initial impression that it was a great, fun, comfortable car. Unfortunately, I got in a wreck last week. Thank you Toyota for the great safety features that left everyone shaken but unhurt. The car, though, was totaled. (This was in part because even though the repair costs were not huge, the 75% of fmv threshold before State Farm would total the car, was pretty easy to reach.) I was so happy with my first Scion that I right away ordered a new one. The salesman at McGeorge was, again, great. I ordered it with the same specs as the first one, but got a 2006 and side airbags (once bitten...). The Richmond dealership was able to get this one from a Virginia Beach dealership, the car came a day later, and just yesterday I picked it up, only nine days after the accident that totaled the 2005. I made an appointment Friday afternoon to pick the car up yesterday at 10:30. The salesman was ready for me when I got there, had all the paperwork filled out and ready to go, and the car was washed and gassed up. After test-driving and signing, I drove out of the dealership at 11:20. After driving a Taurus-ified Volvo rental for a week, I couldn't have been happier to get back behind the wheel of my tc. Plus, the 2006 radio is 100% better than the old one and I noticed the annoying radio cover now opens and shuts smoothly. I also really like the steering wheel mounted radio controls. I won't belabor this point, but the Volvo I rented sells for, literally, almost double what I paid for the tc. While the Volvo's seats were very comfortable, I honestly cannot tell why anyone would spend $15,000 to $18,000 for leather seats. Anyway, to each his own. My experience, though, with Scion, my tc, and McGeorge Toyota-Scion in Richmond has been outstanding. I'd recommed all of the above to anyone.
