Re: Just bought an '08 Oulook XR at invoice.. [jeninca]

Hi, Yes, the dealer is called Saturn of Torrance. And, you guessed it, it is in Torrance CA (in LA), off of 405 Fwy and Hawthorne Blvd (I believe). Google it and you will find it. Or better yet, request a quote through edmunds and you'll get an email from them. Use their ZIP code: 90503. They are very quick to respond. Unlike most other Saturn dealers I dealt with, they were the only ones to offer me a quote (initially when I started inquiring back in May of '07). But, because I waited for the '08 model, on that request, they just stated they would give me 'invoice pricing' on whatever they had on their lot. Good luck.

Hi, No. There was no trade-in. There was financing. I put $15K down and financed the rest (about $20K) at 5.9% through Capitol (dealer did all the paper work). I am hoping to pay it off by this summer (after I get my Tax refund and other savings I am accumulating on the side). You know, because they didn't give me an exact quote, I couldn't take this offer to another dealer here in the Bay Area. And, I didn't mind the drive. As far as issues with the Outlooks. I also read as many forums to learn about all the issues the the triplets were having. I learned about the water leaks and the transmission shifting. There were some people that complained about low gas mileage. Most of these were for '07 Outlooks. So I took a chance on the '08 that I got. It's been raining here in the Bay Area for the last 2 weeks and I haven't noticed any water leaks yet. My gas mileage is about 16/21 so far and I have about 1,870 miles on my Outlook. So far so good. I really like the looks of the Outlook when compared to the Acadia (and the '08 MDX). I was in the position to buy this vehicle since it came out, but really didn't wanted the first year model. I was expecting the '07 models to have some 'glitches' and so that's why I stayed away from them. ;) Good luck to all of you with your '07s and I hope the dealers do fix all you issues, for GM's sake.
From 2005 to 2008 Vue
by jclnick on Fri Jan 25 01:24:20 PST 2008
In March, 2005, I leased a 2005 Vue. It had leather, a moonroof and a single cd/mp3 player and the compass/temp guage showing in the rearview mirror. I loved this, my first SUV! Overall, I wasn't impressed with the MPG- usually got 25MPG on trips- it was a 4cyl, 5 speed, nor did I care for the way the Vue was put together at that time as far as seeing where the doors could be taken off, etc. It was definitely an entry level SUV, but fit my budget and served my needs very well for nearly 3 years without a problem. Fast forward to January 21, 2008. For a lark, I decided to check out the new body style. I knew I had a GM Supplier discount of about $1,000 I could use along with GM's loyalty discount for prior leases at $500 and the current "pull ahead" credit of $500. I took another 4cyl for a test drive and it was fine as far as power and the styling both inside and out have been dramatically improved- it's almost downright European! 2008 models have no moonroof due to a supplier problem, but as much as I've loved having one, I could live without it. The 3.5 AWD models are a bit hard to find in Indy and I knew that the XR would be overkill as I was interested in MPG with the current price of fuel. The dealership had an "exposure vehicle", "first prod run" with four options installed by the dealer, separate from any of the normal packaging: Fog lamps, the annoying as hell reverse echo sensor (I turned that sucker off), roof rails and a remote starter. This vehicle is black with tan interior. I was looking for dark blue or grey/grey or ruby red/grey initially, but as long as it wasn't white, it didn't matter very much. WELLLLLL... I leased this vehicle for under base MSRP with the above mentioned options! The dealership gave an "age credit" (6 mos. on the lot due to demo status) of $1,000 and a mileage credit of $1,350 as it had just a little over 2,200 miles on it. It would have been worth spending some extra money in the GM discounts I did have before the dealership discounts. My preferred options were: 6CD changer, preferred pkg and maybe roof rails and a cargo cover. My 2008 has a single CD and due to first prod. run has no digital compass- which I will miss. It does have outside temp though and that's fine. I've not had a black vehicle since 1989, but that was in CA where I could wash it when I wanted. The midwest has changeable weather... It was a pleasant experience and I knew what I wanted as far as the XE model- I wouldn't have chosen the reverse sensor, or the fog lamps, but all things being equal, I love this vehicle- it's very sharp looking and drives like a dream. Color wasn't a huge factor and I didn't have to be "sold" since I didn't have to do anything until the end of March with my 2005 Vue. I can scarcely believe the differences in styling inside and out though! This is one vehicle I didn't "settle" on- nor did I with my 2005. I took possession on the 22nd and am now at just under 3/4 of a tank. We'll see how the mileage is in this one since the EPA finally pulled their collective heads out and rate vehicle mileage differently these days- with real driving conditions such as passengers, a/c, etc. So, we'll see how it goes... so far, so good! ;)

Ah! NO. Again, the wanted to charge a "Marketing fee" but I strongly refused to pay it. They didn't add any 'other' fees. :) Like I wronte in other forums, everytime I park my Silver Outlook next to an '08 Black Acura MDX, it brings a smile to my face :P

Hi, Yes. TTL (Title,tax...was extra). I am enjoying my car and hopefully I wont have any 'water leaks' as others have mentioned. As far as gas mileage, well, as long as I don't get 12 mpg as some have posted, I'll be happy. I am avering about 16 in city and 21 on the Hwy with 1,300 on the odometer.

Hi, Just wanted to post my buying experience. I've been researching the Outlook since it came out and finally decided to buy one I wanted a base Outlook XR with only the 'Trailering Pkg' as an option. I wanted either an Ocean Mist or Silver exterior with an ebony cloth (8-Passenger) interior. December 29, 2007 I drove to Los Angeles to make a deal on my Outlook. Was able to negotiate invoice pricing. Purchased a 2008 Saturn Outlook XR Silver exterior with Ebony interior 8-passenger / cloth seats. Options: Trailering pkg Navigation with ‘backup camera’ Convenience Pkg (Remote start and Power lift gate) Price:................... MSRP......Invoice ............................. 30,190.....28,530 Opt Equip UZR TouchScreen....2,340......2,176 Navigation PCU (with UZR) ....... 685.......637 PDC Conv Pkg..........870.......809 V92 Trailering Pkg.....425...... 395 Destination Charge....735......735 Total with Options.....35,245.....33,282 I offered 33,200 before the $500 Discount. Price paid: $32,700.00 before taxes. They wanted to add $695 for ‘paint protection’, $195 for ‘pin stipes’ and $350 for “marketing fee’. I said no to all these. I hope this helps. As you can see, some Saturn dealers are dealing.
