2005 Porsche Cayenne Purchase
by blgreen24 on Sat Apr 18 13:44:45 PDT 2009
I currently live in Jacksonville, FL and considering purchasing a single-owner 2005 Porsche Cayenne with 47,124 miles on it. I have never owned a Porsche before so I am really looking for insight into the long-term maintenance of a Cayenne and general thoughts on the driving and ownership experiences.

Dealer says Pfin caps MSRP at 56.7k, and that the best interest is 6.5% thru Pfin Cant find any better anyway and 08 cayennes are getting scarce in south FL, so I think I'll have to close the deal

I keep my car for at least 7 years and for 80% business use would you advise to lease and buy back at the end of the list or just buy it? Tampa, FL

Thanks vwguild1. I am actually looking at a brochure from JM&A Group and the first line states that is covers "major mechanical breakdowns". Also, I have another brochure that looks almost identical, its a brochure from Fidelity. They are both from Deerfield, FL; i believe they are one in the same company.
Re: 6 vs 5 speed on Cayman [gkoff]

I have a Cayman S (6-speed) and it is a blast to crank through the gears during a spirited drive. I actually believe that the car doesn't really need 6 gears as the 1st gear is so tall that you shift to 2nd quickly (which is also too tall IMO). I understand that Porsche intentionally geared the Cayman S this way to keep it from being faster than the 911. No matter what transmission you get, you will love the car as it is the most balanced, fun to drive car available. I was going to buy a 911S but when I drove the Cayman S it was just as much if not more fun and I saved $20K.
