Caymans S - Tiptronic Lease Quote Question
by jillianelyse on Wed Feb 28 15:19:27 PST 2007
Car_Man - I have been looking at a Cayman S with Tiptronic in the San Francisco Area. The features on the car are the preferred package Plus & powerseats, xenon headlights.... MSRP:$68,450 Price they offered: $63,400 Term: 39 month lease Miles: 15K Drive off is $2500 Monthly Rate: $1001 (including tax - SF, CA) This seems high and they claiming the residual for the Cayman S w/tiptronic is only 49%. But I keep seeing much higher on this site - am I getting ripped off? Thanks
05 vs 06

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area the dealers do not seem to realize that Cayenne sales are down about 30% compared to last year. I decided not to order an 06 at this point because I know prices will drop once the 06 models arrive in two months. I asked the salesman if they would let an 05 CayS go for 10% off MSRP, just to gauge his reaction. He acted as if I had asked for his first born. Since I was the only customer in the entire store at 3pm on a Saturday, I thought he would put up a token fuss and then gladly relent. Nope. He let me walk. The biggest thing in the buyer's favor is patience. When the lots start filling up with 05s and the 06s have to be unloaded off the ships, something's gotta give. Not to mention the Cayenne's less than stellar reliability rating, which granted most of us are willing to put up with, but not at anything near MSRP. The salesman will call me back. He has already called me five times before asking me to come in and take just one more test drive. Then I'll ask for a custom order 06 with 8% off. IMO, buying an 05 at this point is a losing proposition unless you can get at least 11% off. Dealers are still looking for the uninformed buyer who wanders in and thinks that $2000 off a PORSCHE! is a steal. As far as the Cayenne goes, those days are over. I'd like to know how much negotiating had to be done by those that got 10% or more off their purchase. Based on my experience, these folks had to go through trench warfare to get those prices. Either that or I'm a horrible negotiator.
Just got an '05 Cayenne S for $5K off MSRP
by fuzzyed on Fri Dec 24 00:50:48 PST 2004
Just picked up a 2005 Cayenne S at a pretty good price (I think), $5K off MSRP. I saw that jimvee got $7K off MSRP in Florida, but that was for 2004 model during late 2004. This is a 2005 model, purchased in 2004, and in the Bay Area.    Anyway, I talked to a few other dealerships and this is the best price I got. The place is Carlsen Porsche in Redwood City. The sales guy is super pleasant, down-to-earth, and straighforward (not salesy), and knows a lot about the car. I can't name names here, but just use the Edmunds free dealer quote, check Carlsen Porsche and you will be fine (heck, check on other dealers too for good measure). Supposedly this is one of the two largest dealers in Silicon Valley, and hence they got better pricing (The other big dealer in SV is Stevens Creek - but they are way stuck up and won't deal the price much.)   Kaipingma, as for figuring invoice prices, it is about 84% of MSRP (depends on the specific options). I verified it when I purchased this sweet Cayenne S.   Not sure about the V6 pricing, but I noticed there are many more V6's on the parking lot than V8's, so the pricing should be a bit better. But I say go for the V8. :) Good luck!

Or, you can go to the Porshe Cayenne pricing and review pages, scroll down to the maintenance section on the left margin, and click on that. This will give you local shop pricing based on your zip code.

This website has a section on maintenance costs. You can look up the Cayenne's projected maintenance costs by clicking on the TCO, True Cost to Own, feature on the Edmunds home page, under Top Features.

highender, thanks for the tip. Am really liking the Cayenne S, now. For some reason, I'm thinking you're in the Bay Area.
