Re: Chances of receiving a cut rate final purchase price? [bvdj84]

Well, I may still keep the G6, because I truly love it! But, to be saddled with payments for many more years for an already 3 year old car doesn't sit well. However, I have been poking around the market for a Pontiac Vibe, possibly AWD (for those crummy PA winters). I plan to go to the dealership before the lease is up to inquire about a few things, including the status of the power steering light. I also plan to visit some of the other local dealerships to see what kind of offers they can conjure up. Thanks for the help.
Purchased 2009 1.8L

Thanks to all who have posted in this forum. I gained a lot of knowledge reading your posts prior to making my decision to buy. I bought a 2009 1.8L with the Preferred Package, A/C, A/T and the Audio System with AM/FM Stereo, CD and MP3 Playback. The Smokers Package was included but was the only thing I did not need. Had a great buying experience with O'Neil Buick Pontiac GMC in Warminster, PA that I documented in the Dealer Sales Review area of CarSpace.
When is the right time to buy?

I currently have a Mazda3 hatch and want to upgrade to the GT or GXP (1st choice) with the addition of a second child. Should I wait to get a deal or are the dealers starting to move vehicles with all of these GM dealer closings in the news? I am in the Philly area.

TwoGoldFish, I bought my GT at the end of the year at the end of December. I bought a remaining '08, with a cloth interior and all season tires for $23K, plus TTL (actually, $19.5K, plus TTL with my GM Card money) from a very small dealer in PA. For an '09 with premium and sport packages, a great price today would be $25K. I saw a dealer in Virginia selling them at $24,995 with these 2 packages about a month ago on ebay, but not sure if this price is still being offered by them at this juncture. The dealer was Woodbridge Pontiac in Woodbridge, Virginia. Website: woodbridgepontiac.com. I could have gotten leather (premium package) for slightly more money, but did not want it. I really prefer cloth (imo it's more comfy/cozy) and the cloth on this car is really premium. Also, I did not want 19" tires either as I'm from Ohio and the roads are horrible here. I think 19's would be awesome for warmer weather climates, where you have really good roads and don't have to worry about chuckholes. Plus, 19" tires are a lot more expensive to replace versus new 18's. Check around on the net and even if you have to drive a little (or fly) to get one at a good price, it's worth it.

Local dealer sent me mail advertising one of their "invited customers only" sales, with cars "thousands below invoice" and "0% financing". I am going to go and see what deals I can get on the G8 GT and the GXP. My hopes are low on the GXP since they only have one. They have about 10 GT's (all according to their website). Is the invoice price on Edmunds very accurate? If so, they are only marked up from invoice to MSRP ~$1000? Doesn't seem right.
Thanks...

Thanks Car man. Luckily I was able to negotiate my best lease deal before all the best incentives ran out on 1/31. Here's my deal: I finally purchased my G6 lease on 1/30 after shopping nearly a dozen dealerships over a three week period. I secured the exact optioned car I wanted at best possible price with all available incentives included(most expired 1/31) Here's the pricing breakdown: 2008 Pontiac G6 sedan midnight blue metallic with V6 performance sport package, preferred package, sun & sound package and chrome appearance package. GMAC 39 month smartlease with 12K miles per year. MSRP $23,330 Capitalized Cost $22,777 Discounts: Dealer Cash $874. GM Card Top-Off $3043. GM Loyalty Lease $500. GMAC Lease Cash $300. + 3.3% w/no security deposit 97 GP GTP Trade $1800. 109K loaded & nice but some issues Total discounts $6517 I made my 1st payment + basic DOC fees total of $288, with 38 remaining payments of $158.73 for a brand new, well optioned V6 G6. Optional end of lease purchase price is $12,868. THANKS for a KILLER deal GM!!!!
