Buying a car from a Pontiac Car Dealer
I currently have a Mazda3 hatch and want to upgrade to the GT or GXP (1st choice) with the addition of a second child. Should I wait to get a deal or are the dealers starting to move vehicles with all of these GM dealer closings in the news? I am in the Philly area.
TwoGoldFish, I bought my GT at the end of the year at the end of December. I bought a remaining '08, with a cloth interior and all season tires for $23K, plus TTL (actually, $19.5K, plus TTL with my GM Card money) from a very small dealer in PA. For an '09 with premium and sport packages, a great price today would be $25K. I saw a dealer in Virginia selling them at $24,995 with these 2 packages about a month ago on ebay, but not sure if this price is still being offered by them at this juncture. The dealer was Woodbridge Pontiac in Woodbridge, Virginia. Website: woodbridgepontiac.com. I could have gotten leather (premium package) for slightly more money, but did not want it. I really prefer cloth (imo it's more comfy/cozy) and the cloth on this car is really premium. Also, I did not want 19" tires either as I'm from Ohio and the roads are horrible here. I think 19's would be awesome for warmer weather climates, where you have really good roads and don't have to worry about chuckholes. Plus, 19" tires are a lot more expensive to replace versus new 18's. Check around on the net and even if you have to drive a little (or fly) to get one at a good price, it's worth it.
Thanks Car man. Luckily I was able to negotiate my best lease deal before all the best incentives ran out on 1/31. Here's my deal: I finally purchased my G6 lease on 1/30 after shopping nearly a dozen dealerships over a three week period. I secured the exact optioned car I wanted at best possible price with all available incentives included(most expired 1/31) Here's the pricing breakdown: 2008 Pontiac G6 sedan midnight blue metallic with V6 performance sport package, preferred package, sun & sound package and chrome appearance package. GMAC 39 month smartlease with 12K miles per year. MSRP $23,330 Capitalized Cost $22,777 Discounts: Dealer Cash $874. GM Card Top-Off $3043. GM Loyalty Lease $500. GMAC Lease Cash $300. + 3.3% w/no security deposit 97 GP GTP Trade $1800. 109K loaded & nice but some issues Total discounts $6517 I made my 1st payment + basic DOC fees total of $288, with 38 remaining payments of $158.73 for a brand new, well optioned V6 G6. Optional end of lease purchase price is $12,868. THANKS for a KILLER deal GM!!!!
$1750 customer cash on remaining 06 GTO's through April. Red Tag ended 1/2/07
Star Pontiac, Easton PA 12/29/06 Purchased: 06 Phantom Black Metallic/Black M6 w/18's w/16 Miles MSRP $33,180 Traded: 04 Pulse Red M6 w/17's 23.7K miles purchased new 1/3/05 MSRP $33,485 After 3 visits and roughly 12 total hours spent at this particuliar dealer, this was the absolute best deal I could make with my trade. $9800 + my 04 which still had a full year remaining on the factory warranty and new tires, but had a crack in the lower front facia. We then had $2525 accrued on the old blue GM credit card bringing the final split to $7275 which is all I had to pay tax on in PA. I still owed $10798 on my 04 so my total financed out the door after all fees is $19236 @ 5.9%. I added GAP insurance so my payment is $355/month for 63 months. Trading complicated this process conciderably! While I'm very pleased with my final deal I could not get the #'s others were paying outright as it would just knock my trade value below $15K. In essence I paid $27,800 w/18's with $18K for my trade before GM card rebate. Green Brook NJ may have done a bit better w/17's but I just couldn't live with 5 holes in my front facia on my brand new GTO from the stupid plate holder. If I didn't have to trade I would have flown to Ann Arbor,MI paid $24K - $2525 GM card for an INCREDIBLE price of $21,475 before TTL!! I purchased my 04 during the massive rebate/GM card bonus sale in 12/04(page 101 GTO thread). I didn't even need a new car but the INSANE deals got me into a 15 mile GTO for $17,300 before TTL. I essentially drove this brand new performance car for 2 years for FREE!!(Thanks GM!!) All the while my $304 payment was accruing equity toward an 06 at 2.9%. There will NEVER be a deal like that again and there shouldn't be! Now I have a new car again with all the improvements at a decent payment and hopefully a little better resale. Only time will tell but it all hardly matters as the GTO is far and away the very BEST GM car I've ever owned. GOOD LUCK to all and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! -Bryan __________________ Pulse Red '04 GTO M6 http://realrockpro.com/ Bright Red '02 Firebird FORMULA Hurst 6spd Chrome Wheels Bright Red '97 Grand Prix GTP Supercharged Polished Wheels Black '90 McLaren Turbo Grand Prix Black '70 GTO 400 Stonecrusher 4 speed Red '65 GTO 389 Auto Convertible
