Re: Future resale values [don_nc]: by whoosierdaddy on Thu Aug 27 14:20:18 PDT 2009; If the Pontiac GTO (also made by Holden) is any indication, the G8 will hold its value very well. My concern is maybe parts that are proprietary to this car (which is most of 'em) will be expensive and have a long delivery. With all the rebates and deals you can find a new G8 for well under $30K, especially the V6.

Future resale values: by don_nc on Thu Aug 27 06:31:24 PDT 2009; Now that the latest status of the G8 is that it's not going to live on in a Chevy form, what do ya'll think the resale value of the G8's will be in 2 to 3 years ? At just under $30k, it's a little more than I care to spend on a car so I'm hoping it'll depreciate like (or faster) than typical GM cars do. Thanks

2009 Vibe GT: by johnray on Wed May 27 12:09:58 PDT 2009; I got a 2009 2.4 4cyl Vibe GT automatic to drive overnight. It has the Preferred Package (remote entry, pwr doors/locks/window/cruise, etc.) and the Sun and Sound Package (sunroof/monsoon sound/leather wrap steeering wheel, etc.) and the other standard GT features. Dealer quoted me invoice of $21,084.18 minus the current $1,500 cash back ($19,584 plus TTL) (or 0% for 72 months APR) instead of the list price of $22, 165. We tried to load it up with things we would normally take in our current 1995 Lumina APV for a week at the beach that we go on yearly, but after just four beach chairs and four luggage with 4 people in it, it was already full. The thing is, we only need the space ONE week a year or a couple at the most. The rest of the time, I would love the small size and good mileage of this compared to a minivan or SUV. Maybe luggage racks and a hitch mounted bike rack would help, but I don't know if even the 2.4 4 cyl. could handle that and 4 passengers, especially going back up the mountain to NC. I could maybe live with the decreased room if I was paying only $15K or so, but I doubt even this disappearing brand at the end of the month would go for that little and for a few grand over $20K, I could get a much roomier vehicle with more features, like a back up camera to make up for the tiny window and huge blind spots this car seems to have.

2007 Vibe purchased in March 2007: by debinnc on Wed Apr 25 09:21:41 PDT 2007; I have no idea if I got a good deal or not, but here it is. New 2007, salsa, security pkg (wanted OnStar), Sun/Sound (wanted sunroof), Pref pkg (gotta have power accessories), automatic, 16" aluminum wheels (didn't like the hubcaps), monotone paint(more appropriate for my age) = $20,598 less $2,000 cash incentives. So, the price was $18,598 before trade-in, taxes, etc. Deb in NC

2005 Quicksilver/Red: by oldgoatee on Sun Feb 27 15:23:03 PST 2005; Thought that I would share my Goat hunting adventure just in case it gives someone else some hints. I wanted only a particular combo: �05 Quicksilver/Red with 6-speed. Got on pontiac.com and used the �Locate Vehicle� feature to search all dealerships within a comfortable day�s round trip from home. Only found 3 such cars to my spec, 2 about 3 hours away, and 1 about 5 hours away. Then used the �Request a Quote� feature from the �Window Sticker� page to contact each dealer about each car. First step was to find out if the dealer was willing to do the GM Supplier Discount that my employer makes possible. For the 6-speeder, list is $33,690, invoice is $31,192, and the Supplier Discount price is $31,653 (for comparison, the GM Employee, which I ain�t, price is $30,293). The two closest dealers (of course) were �uncooperative�. One refused to honor the GM Discount (his firm price was $32,690, which suggests that�s the current non-greedy �05 price, effectively a $1000 discount from MSRP for anyone). The second didn�t seem to be too internet-savvy, originally responded to �your parts request� (huhh?), then was very slow to respond to questions. The third (farthest away, of course) dealer was the most responsive. All my questions via e-mail and phone were answered promptly. He honored the Supplier Discount price without hesitation. Plus I wanted the inset front nose grilles from the Sport Appearance Package, which he had in stock and agreed to provide at his cost ($235 with free installation). Finally, he had no problem reducing the �documentation fee� (that popular all-purpose rip-off) to the maximum $75 allowed by the GM program regulations. On top of everything else, GMAC currently has a 0% APR 36-month loan on the GTO, which makes no sense if I understand where Mr. Greenspan is headed, but I�m not one to turn down free money. So I made a verbal agreement with this third dealer, requested the grille package installation, gave some credit information over the phone, and agreed to pick up the car in a couple of days. Showed up two days later, our GTO was waiting for us right out front, my wife and I went over the whole thing with a fine tooth-comb, the Goat looked great (that SAP grille package on the Quicksilver car looks absolutely spectacular). I kept on waiting for the �games� to begin. But there was absolutely no BS � everything was exactly as had been verbally agreed to. Signed all the waiting paperwork and jumped into the GTO for the dreamy 5 hour drive home. Top notch professionalism throughout. So who WAS this dealer? Bob King Pontiac/GMC in Wilmington, NC. Never been there before � a really big dealership. When I last checked, they had 7 (or more?) �05 GTOs in stock, and only 1 �04 GTO left (which means they were not stupid with last year�s GTO prices). I recommend them highly and have no connection with them (they are so far away from me I can�t even get my oil changed there).
